Imagine... Yoko Ono designing a beer bottle. Strange as it may sound the ex-Beatle groupie has been asked to design this year's limited edition bottle for Beck's Futures - and she's not the first artist to embark on such collaboration. Previous Beck's designers read like a Who's Who of the art world -
Gilbert & George, Tracy Emin, the Chapman bros, Jeff Koons and S-T-W
all have had a go. |

The Beck's exhibition is now in its fifth year and presents the work of ten contemporary British artists. With a star studded curatorial crew, this year's short-listed picks look like an interesting bunch. Highlights include Auad's life-size carpet fluff animal sculptures, Cavusoglu's (try to pronounce that) video installation of after-dark life (very spooky..) and Stidworthy's sound installation of Cilla Black impersonators singing Anyone Who Had A Heart. And if you're wondering why the place seems to be heavily guarded - just ask artist Nicoline van Harskamp, who seems to have a thing about men in uniforms. |
