The fact that So Close screens in the London Lesbian & Gay Film Festival almost seems a ploy to ensure that there will be SOME females in the audience. But whilst tonight's light-hearted Girl Power Hong Kong action flick should appeal broadly to breeders, other of the Festival's film will require more of an open mind.

In Canadian bad boy Bruce LaBruce's very explicit The Raspberry Reich,
organisers have graciously promised to provide toilet paper at the screenings. This is probably not one for the family. Even if, as declared by the picture's gay intifada terrorist group(!), 'Heterosexuality is the opiate of the masses'.

But, if public displays of sticky substances overstretches your definition of a liberal mind, then go tonight and take pride in having no problem whatsoever with the Sapphic undertones in So Close. Charlie's Angels it ain't - and this is a good thing.
