My cup of tea - this one from French atypyk.com

I love a good 'yum cha'.

For those unfamiliar with colloquial Chinese, 'yum cha' is shorthand for catching up with one's friends for a good gossip over dim sum.

And Alan Yau's new dim sum restaurant and tearoom on Broadwick Street in Soho is the perfect place to do it.

The man behind Hakkasan - the only Chinese restaurant in Britain to boast a star in the Michelin guide - has again collaborated with designer Christian Liaigre to create Yauatcha, London's first specialist dim sum restaurant.

Open all day, seven days a week, they'll be serving two dozen varieties of gorgeous little nibbly bits, as Patsy Stone might well say, prepared under the supervision of Cheong Wah Soon from Hakkasan.

Elsewhere, in the tea room, will be Hsieh Chih Chang - Yauatcha's tea mistress from Taipei, who has helped keep Starbucks at bay back in Taiwan by conducting masterclasses in tea rituals. With a selection of 150 varieties of tea, you can also treat yourself to a bag from £2.50 up to £25.
