You stand on the platform, press the on-button and off you whizz at three times the pace of walking. It has a rechargable battery and can travel up to 17 miles in one go as well as performing nifty 360 degree turns on the spot. Sounds fun?

Jay Kay was recently spotted on one in Sloane Street, and there have been sightings around High Street Kensington and Oxford Street. Of course, this means that as well as navigating tourists, pedestrians have to avoid a run over from a Segway too.

Segway, the company, claims that the self balancing transportation device gives people the chance to move faster in an eco friendly way without the need for a car - thus saving the planet.

Of course though, in true American style it also takes the hassle of actually having to walk anywhere too. And at £2,995, a pricey alternative at that.

It's barmy, it's expensive and it looks bizarre - but you just know the Segway's going to catch on.
