At last, a band that doesn't need to strut about and pout, in a vain attempt to cover up their poor musical ability and lack of talent.

The Memory Band are humble, honest musicians, steadily gaining a faithful following among London's more enlightened listeners. They really ought to be hugely successful, but it seems they just don't want to be.

Their sound is folk influenced, but Krautrock, hip-hop and northern soul are also thrown into the mix. Conceived as an imaginary band, built inside a computer, they are now flesh and their ever changing line-up has placed them at the forefront of a new approach to traditional music.

The best way to hear the Memory Band is definitely live and when it's in a venue like the Tapestry - a church hall that's filled with Jagger and Joplin-esque rockers - you really can't pass it up.
