With a roster of heavy hitting names, including Sir Michael Caine (it's his second restaurant), Claudio Pulze (top restaurateur), Sanjay Dwivedi (recently from the Michelin-starred Zaika) and Massimo di Paula (mixologist extraordinaire), it would be pretty hard for Deya not to become an instant success.

The grade II building sets an intimate tone, the layout's great, the lighting's warm and the food is divine. The focus here is on light modern dishes that tame the sauce and spice. Seafood takes the centre stage and almost every dish introduces you to something new - Biryanis covered in pastry and Tandooris with shrimp rice pancakes. Instead of run-of-the mill Cosmos and Tom Collins, cocktails are made with unusual ingredients like avocado and yoghurt. Sounds a bit strange, but well worth a try.
