Back in the day it was easy to see short films - there was one on before most features - but with the main show now regularly clocking in at three hours plus, the short film has been largely squeezed out. Praise the gods of film then for the recent release by Cinema 16 of British Short Films on DVD. This brilliant disc features work by Chris Nolan (Memento, Batman Begins, Insomnia), Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien, Gladiator), Mile Leigh (Secrets and Lies), and Stephen Daldry (The Hours, Billy Elliot). |
