At least things are changing with initiatives like The Modern Times Club. Finally, somebody realised that there are certain individuals, namely myself, who don't like looking like street urchin when they try to pull. Some of us require a little glamour. Like Gosford Park, silver cigarette case, red lipstick glamour.

You may have missed this month's Modern Times event (at the GE Club first Sunday of every month), but next Tuesday, David Piper (the Modern Times promoter) will be hamming it up at the Spitz to celebrate the release of [The Real] Tuesday Weld's first single off their new album 'I, Lucifer' (think 30s Music Hall). With their smouldering lounge style and eclectic beats, this is one band that can't help but entertain.

Now, there may not be the usual nymphs in bathtubs and string quartet (it's at the Spitz, not GE Club), but be sure that wherever there's a hint of Modern Times, there's decadence and debauchery, so get vintage hunting, cause this is one gig where scruffy chic just isn't going to cut it.
