Forget fried food and crusty punters. If you dream of listening to live music, while sipping sangria and recovering on the beach, then hop on a plane and head to the Benicàssim festival.

Belgian retro party and mix kings Glimmer Twins will be spicing things up at Plastic People. 10:30pm-3:30am. 147 Curtain Road, EC2. £7.

Spain's leading summer festival takes place just outside Valencia and involves three sun-drenched days of the best live music known to man. Book into one of the party-rific five star hotels and do it up in style, as this is definitely not a festival to scrimp on. (Expensive hippy gear only please.)

The line-up includes usual suspects like Franz Ferdinand, Chemical Brothers and Primal Scream, as well as current hotties like the Scissor Sisters (bring on the Missoni unitard!) and Belle and Sebastian, all set to rock the Spanish beach resort.

AI Records celebrate its 5th with a night of electronica at Hayward. 6:30-11pm. South Bank, SE1. Free (£9 entry to About Face exhibition).

Chicken Lips join the electro sleaze at 333's Fesh. 10pm-5am. 333 Old St, EC1. £10.

And in true Spanish style the party doesn't get started until the evening and carries on well into the next day. A handy 24-hour bar serves ice-cold mojitos to help you make it through the night and provides a happy meeting point for the truly hardcore.

There's still time. If you've never done a beachfront festival in style, it's time to see what you've been missing.
