A few brave boys from the City have made a valiant attempt to revive Islington on the worst night of the week. After a 10 year sabbatical, the Funky Love Vibrations are back. Concentrating on London house, funk and jazz, the group comprises of a selection of suit-by-day, DJ-by-night types. While we'd usually scoff at such banker antics, we've got to admit, these guys put on one of the best midweek parties in town.

Held at the newly-opened Anam, off Chapel Market, the night has already begun to attract a celebrity crowd. Hazel Robinson, one half of the former team behind fashion label House of Jazz, was recently spotted shimmying with the suited and booted.

But be warned, don't book any important meetings early Thursday. With a 2am license on weeknights, the night doesn't properly kick off until late. Sure, you may be a bit worse for wear the next morning, but who wants to waste the weekend hungover?
