The artist Kutlug Ataman (it's him on the telephone information line) spent more than two years exploring the physical and psychological Küba, and the show consists of forty subtitled (unless your Kurdish is good) DVD portraits. Each TV monitor has its own armchair, so you can really relax. Artangel, a publicly funded arts organisation, works symbiotically with artists developing one-off site-specific projects. Commissioned artists have transformed a vacant West End department store (Michael Landy's Break Down), and a Victorian East End terraced house (Die Familie Schneider in London), and the Sorting Office has been waiting for something edgy for over ten years. |
