Now, Dalston may not be famous for an awful lot (or at least not a lot that's good), but any Londoner worth his baklava would be quick to acknowledge it as the epicentre of truly great and remarkably cheap Turkish food. |

But step aside Constantinople - er, I mean Istanbul - because it also hosts Shanghai, surely the most unique Chinese restaurant in town. A couple of doors down from the grimy excuse for public transportation that is the North London Line, is the slightly odd location for Shanghai. Odder still is inside, where patrons settle into comfy booths, surrounded by the gorgeously tiled walls and globed ceiling frescoes of an old eel pie & mash shop, and order some of the tastiest and most reasonably priced dim sum around. And from 3 to 5pm, that dim sum becomes even tastier at just half the price. |
