I really don't like community centres. They're windswept and depressing, architecturally bombshelterish, and generally feature a grand total of absolutely nobody from your community that you'd actually like to spend any time with. Melanie's Tuesday morning pre-natal yoga on linoleum anyone? |

But just as those crafty chaps at Mickey Dee's were rather smart to put kids playgrounds in so many of their, ahem, restaurants, the good people at the Vietnamese Community Centre in Islington were even cleverer to put the Huong-Viet restaurant into their, ahem, adult playground. Of course it always helps when the service is ear-to-ear friendly, the food is of exceptional quality and stupidly cheap. At Huong-Viet, a delicious two-course lunch can be had for a grand total of six quid, jasmine tea thrown in for good measure, and for a small corkage fee you can bring any kind of beverage you wish to the party. |
