Many new designers lay claim to be the future of fashion, and now a new magazine aims to give them a place to put their money where the mouth is.

Fashion Forecast is the swanky new bi-annual fashion title launched today.

Sound artist Alva Noto and composer Ryuichi Sakamoto put on a show at Barbican. 8pm. Silk St, EC2. £12-25. 020 7638 8891 or online.

The Corridor at ICA puts the bizarre world of Slovenian reality TV on. 8pm. The Mall SW1. £8. 020 7930 3647.

Designed as a platform for student and young designers to showcase their work, it is much better than cobbling together some half-arsed show in some manky warehouse in East London.

The magazine is a thoroughly international affair, and Creative Director Rob Phillips has lined up some of the hottest new design talent from all over the world. While you may wince at the idea of student fashion or new designers, the work featured has nothing to do with three-legged trousers or oversized teddy bear costumes, and would put many of the industry's established names to shame.

Electroclash (girl) act Kevin Blechdom is at Underbelly. 8pm. 11 Hoxton Sq, N1. £6. 020 7613 3105 or online.

It's not a celebrity endorsed shopping guide or vanity project for the contributors, as such it's going to be sold for not-so-modestly priced £50 a copy, but the advert free policy means you get 160 pages full of inspirational photography, illustration, and features.

And as they say, if you want the best you gotta pay for it.
