artRob Flowers: Come Here Private View
The world of Rob Flowers (and yes, that is indeed his real name) is a curious one. A land of Victorian sideshows, where conjoined twins dance with ringmaster skeletons, where dishes forcefully abduct spoons, giant furry freaks pose like royalty and a coven of hamburgers dance beneath a Hallowe'en moon.

6pm, then 12-6pm till Mar 26
Place:
La Viande, 3 Charlotte Rd, E8 1EJ

Ah, Easter. That great celebration of fertility, resurrection, chocolate, chicks, rabbits, and pop-infused nudity. Nothing quite like it really. So, starting as you mean to go on, head East, grab a beverage or two at the bar and make loads of new 'friends' as you dance the night away, shedding clothes in the name of musical sociability for this attire-swapping, bunny-eared special.

Favela Chic, 91-93 Great Eastern St, EC2A 3HZ

musicEast Village All-Dayer
Already settling into its stride, East London's latest, biggest, refreshingly least ironic dance venue is letting loose with this huge weekender. And if you can only make it down to one East Village set this week, make it today's, as Detroit's Omar S is over to head up the house-centric basement antics and Horse Meat Disco collides full force with Disco Bloodbath and a host of London micro-legends upstairs.

Time:
4pm-4am
Place:
East Village, 89 Great Eastern St, EC2A 3HX
Cost:
£10, £4 before 6pm, £6 before 8pm, £8 before 10pm

nightlifeThe Spring Masked Ball
Wouldn't life be so dreary without the Last Tuesday Society? I mean to say, how else could we celebrate the emergence of sweet Lady Spring, the Resurrection of the Christ, and a simultaneous full moon without a decent, decadent masked ball of blind portraitists, a twisted punch and judy, gypsy punk, yesterday's cakes, a cheese board, broken toys and hearts alike, and lashings of gin?

Time:
10pm-4am
Place:
The Arts Theatre, 6-7 Great Newport St, WC2H 7JB
Cost:
£15, £12 adv.

Duran Duran Duran
Duran Duran Duran are one of the best breakcore acts in the world right now. Expect gargantuan DNB-style breaks punctuated by frenetic blasts of gabber techno and masses upon masses of bass frequencies - one of the few welcome breaths of fresh air still floating around today's underground scene.

otherPin Up's Carboot Bingo
If the idea of your senile granny wielding a stamp pen and two fat ladies haven't put you off bingo forever, do it carbooty style: don some recycled outfits and win the chance to play some classic records sourced from, yup, you guessed it, car boot sales. But if all that's not excitement enough, Hot Chip and Hinge & Bracket are providing some more 'professional' musical respite.

nightlifeTorture Garden Easter Ball
Easter is supposed to be about Christ, and at a push, rabbits and chocolate you dirty perverts, not 'play equipment' in fetish rooms and an enforced dress code of kinky crucifications and bondage bunnies. But if you must indulge in the dark side, you may as well go all out.

Time:
10pm-6am

New Wayfarers:
Ray-Ban's new Wayfarers come in cool shades for the summer months, including hot pink & turquoise. But until the sun decides to make a showing, you'll have to make do with whipping them out for the odd cloud break. Or at least practising indoors. A lot.

Only if your head's been stuck in the office sandpit should you have missed the masses of fixed gear and single speed bikes pulling tricks, playing polo, and generally having a giggle as they slalom their colour-coordinated way through the incessant traffic jams. Central to the subculture's community in London, the LondonFGSS website celebrates its first birthday with a slew of fixed-related shenanigans, plus DJs and a bar for those less cycular.

otherIssue
One part club night, one part conceptual art, one part trashy mag, Scottee and Jodie Harsh's latest social institution, Issue, returns for its second instalment of all-out, weekend-concluding (only it isn't: hurrah!), fabulously dressed capers. And, since this is the Art issue, expect things to get even stranger, as the hostess with the mostess weaves her irrepressible party sorcery for Hoxton's underlit beaux and belles.

Perhaps the one night of the week when wetting yourself is practically encouraged, hop in the in-club pool and bunny bounce about to the dirty techno and deep, glitchy minimal at this Easter long-weekend special, which promises to be extra filthy, extra wet, and extra memorable. Just like Jesus imagined it.

musicDurrr
If you've ever actually been to Eel Pie Island, it can seem pretty odd that anything as impressive as Pete Townshend's Eel Pie Studios or the legendary Hotel could ever have emerged from that tiny, fifty-odd household mini-island in Twickenham. The Mystery Jets, the latest champions of all things Eel-ish, however, are back with another brillinat album which they're here cranking out at everyone's favourite Monday night regular.

Fifth Floor Cafe
Having opted to stay in London this weekend I'm thinking a nice long, indulgent lunch somewhere light and airy to make the most of the Easter bank holiday vibe.

The most tempting option so far is to sample the new chocolate menu at Harvey Nic's Fifth Floor Cafe. Not that I consider myself a chocoholic but having watched that nutter on Willie's Wonky Chocolate Factory on TV putting 100% cocoa in everything from gazpacho to a baste for roast partridge, my interest to try something a bit different has been piqued.

The menu at the cafe includes rump of venison with creamed Savoy cabbage and chocolate infused sauce or roast cod with mixed bean salad and chocolate oil followed by a more sensible-sounding chocolate creme brulee and chased with a white chocolate martini so the downside is you won't have any room for Easter eggs.

You can always pop into the food hall and pick up some hot cross buns instead, we don't want you fading away.

Hours:
Mon-Sat 8am-10.30pm / Sun 11am-6pm (not Easter Sunday)
Place:
Harvey Nichols, 109-125 Knightsbridge, SW1X 7RJ
Cost:
£24.95, three courses (chocolate menu)

Posh Ready-Meals
We're all aware of the chi chi little delis-attached-to-restaurants springing up everywhere that allow you to take home a taste of this chef or that gourmet nosh, but coming quietly up the rear is a new wave of ready-foods that bear more than a passing resemblance to the microwave meals we've all guiltily succumbed to in the past, only this time we don't need to feel quite so ashamed.

Tom Aikens, in his continuing mission to give Ramsay a run for his money, has cleverly created a selection of take-away Tom's Kitchen dishes for Selfridges. Think vacum-packed beef bourguignon and chicken, mushroom and tarragon pie which comes in a smart re-usable dish.

And dear old Macca may have lost a small chunk of his fortune but the newly relaunched line of Linda McCartney grub may just make up for it. Famous for her veggie sausages, Linda, was of course one of the pioneers of pre-prepared vegetarian food that didn't taste like sawdust and there are now Cornish pasties and sausage rolls in the mix.

You can even watch Macca himself making mashed potatoes on the new all-singing-all-dancing site. Oh Paul, let it be.
