Rain, snow, sleet, and sunshine. Well, hopefully that's all out of our system now, and we can get back to business. This weekend, with everything from bluegrass Ukelele goodness and full on vice, to high drag culture and even some beret-toting French cinema, there are plenty of opportunities to get our social lives back on track.

This weekend's guide is brought to you in association with PPQ and Nokia, who have teamed up to create a limited edition collection of dresses. Combining the cult style of the former with the high luxury of the latter's new 8800 Arte collection, click right to discover how you can have the chance of getting your hands one of these bespoke dress-phone pairings.

noteDuke of Uke
Nothing makes one's wretched woes retreat (aside from a bottle of wine, a valium and a couple of tequilas) better than a healthy dose of bluegrass. And the only thing finer than your run of the mill Appalachian revelry, would be if it was headed by the Duke of Uke's masters of the diminutive 4-string, and they were joined by a veritable brigade of fellow foot-stomping string-pluckers.

musicVice Kills
I can't help but be just a little bit terrified by this new monthly night at the relocated Proud. Sure, there's a cracking line-up on the books, and the space is certainly fabulous. But, you see, I've been to enough debauched Vice events that the merest mention of them having a monthly regular mash-up is already making my kidneys ache. Not that that's always a bad thing, mind.

noteJukebox Jam
For those of us who get these curious, insufferable cravings for throat-rattlin', double bass-twangin' rock 'n' roll, the Jukebox Jam is like a glass of ice-cold lemonade on a baking Texan summer's day. And what a tall, cold soda April's get-together will be. Expect all the usual, stomping 88-spinning, plus bonus live sets from the Bottleneckers and the Hammond-toting Five Aces.

Time:
7pm-1am
Place:
George Tavern, 373 Commercial Rd, E1 0LA

Cobra Dukes
Cobra Dukes are three young guitar kids taking electro-rock into the future, bringing blistering keyboards, nonchalant synths and staccato beats along for the ride. Read their interview and download their single Science Fiction here and remember: though the future is in the future, the Cobra Dukes are very much in the now.

musicGutterSlut
Wearing its merciless, carnage-addicted, camper-than-thou heart on its sleeve, the Dalston Gay Mafia are back with the delicious beast that is Gutterslut. Jonny Woo is on poledancing MC duty (after finishing up over at Bistrotheque: where does he get that energy?), Prickimage and Ralf Obergfell are providing the imagery, and with Superchumbo (Tom Stephan) taking the guest DJ spotlight, glam up, write off Sunday, and prepare to get filthy.

Time:
11pm-5:30am
Place:
images, 482 Hackney Rd, E2 9ED
Cost:
£5 before 12am

theatreStrange Hill
School may be out for everyone else, but for four peculiar pupils, an afternoon's detention leads to some of the queerest lip-synced musical shenanigans you could never imagine. Penned by and starring Jonny Woo, together with the rest of the transtastic cast from Night of a Thousand Jay Astons, this is the drag show to end all drag shows, and is entirely unmissable - especially before they swap the cast.

Time:
8pm
Place:
Bistrotheque, 23-27 Wadeson St, E2 9DR
Cost:
£12

musicBatmacumba 10th Birthday
Ten years after the ICA hosted its first night of Brazilian-drenched party magic, DJ Cliffy is back with his Batmacumba baby to celebrate its decade with a suitably up-for-it season centring on the gloriously utopian state of Recife. Current hot-thing, DJ Dolores, is over from Brazil for the event's guest slot, plus there's a smattering of Brazilian short films in the cinema to complete the sensory effect.

9pm
Place:
ICA, The Mall, SW1Y 5AH

£8 adv.

The Black & White Ball
Currently playing at the King's Head, the premier of Cole Porter's The Black & White Ball is set amidst the shady glamour of 1940s New York. A velvety musical murder-mystery, with a live band and intimate audience seating, this entertainment at its most indulgent.

filmPas d'Histoires
This evening sees the screening of a fascinating cinematic collection, focusing on French, mostly Parisian filmmakers who have pushed the boundary of the documentary form. From the embodiment of Cinema Verité himself, Jean Rouch, to last year's 'Ne me touche pas,' by Olivier Zabat, and of course the don himself, Jean-Luc Godard, you don't get to see this lot under one roof very often, so make a point of it.

Place:

otherHunga Munga Spring Breakout
I know these art gigs can seem a little like hard work. But, really, it's actually more like dropping in on your friends with the 'papers, and sliding into the inevitable Sunday tipple. And then, o look, some more friends have popped by with a few great bands in tow and a heap of artistic odds and ends for you to muck about with. Not so hard now, is it?

Time:
7:30pm
Place:
BGWMC, 44-46 Pollard Row, E2 6NB
Cost:
£6

musicUpTownBoogieDown
If quirky Bethnal Green interactive art events and groundbreaking French documentaries aren't your idea of Sunday fun, then how does a night of deep house in West London sound instead? Thrown together by the UpDownBookieDown crew, it's certainly a sexy line-up. And, proving that live art isn't solely the treasure of the East set, Georgia Ciancimino will be painting. Something. Live.

4pm-1am
Place:
Notting Hill Arts Club, 21 Notting Hill Gate, W11 3JQ

LMNT II
Okay, we're all aspiring gourmands, only the best will do etc, etc, but sometimes there's nothing better than a night spent in great company, over decent food and a few drinks without breaking the bank.

LMNT II, sister restaurant to LMNT (we're guessing it's a play on element) in Hackney, is a great place to know about - in fact they're both good to know about but number two is slightly newer and has just started serving a la carte as oppose to only offering a set menu.

Its faux glam interior, complete with chandeliers, velvet drapes and the odd stuffed animal, is conducive to spending at least part of the evening nursing a cocktail, which you can do with a relatively clear conscience here as you'll be hard pushed to spend over twenty quid on dinner - and that's three courses with coffee.

The food is bistro style, with the occasional twist, so choose from haddock raviolo or goats cheese souffle followed by skate wing or daube of lamb, and the deserts are worth a look too.

It's a bit like a posh Stockpot with a hint of Les Trois Garcons eccentricity and is owned by a Serbian called Dragan, which surely is reason enough to visit.

Hours:
Mon-Fri 12-3pm & 5-11pm / Sat 5-11pm / Sun 12-10.30pm
Place:
46 Percival Street, EC1 0HS
Cost:
£25

Maze Grill
Apologies in advance to any veggies out there but at this point in the week I usually start hankering for a fix of bloody, chargrilled meat at some point over the weekend, so this one coming I'm looking forward to trying out the new Maze Grill.

Chef Jason Atherton, with a little help from uncle Ramsay, has opened the Grill right next door to Maze, which makes sense really - he's just brought out his own cookbook too which probably makes even more sense to his bank manager.

It's nicely New-Yorky feeling, with butcher's block tables surrounding the kitchen, and they're not short on some prime cuts of beef; from wagyu '9th Grade' Gold (not sure what that means but it sounds good) fillet to 25 day aged Hereford rib eye - there's also Native lobster with duck fat chips and ginger ketchup which sounds blimmin marvelous.

Choose from horseradish, red wine or blue cheese sauce in which to smother your steak and good old pecan pie for pud. Wait, I feel a Chicago Ribshack moment coming on.... 'Can I get a coke float with that please?'

Hours:
Breakfast 6.45-10.30am / Lunch 12-2.30pm (Sat & Sun til 4pm)
/ Dinner 6-10pm
Place:
10-13 Grosvenor Square, W1K 6JP
Cost:
£40
