A Wild Time |
|
|
I
wouldn't describe myself as spoilt. I just like
nice things. My father, I'm sure, would disagree.
The ex-pat experiences of my formative years may
have turned me into something of a hotel brat,
but personally, I don't think eternal comfort
is too much to ask for.
|
|
|
I'm
also wary of any contact with the wilderness. Again,
whilst my father insists that hotel ferns don't count
as particularly 'wild', I maintain that there's a suspicious
amount of foliage there.
I'm hoping the arrival of the
Franklin Hotel will change my mind on this one,
with its four townhouses, and an open lobby looking
out onto a tree-lined garden, with a dining room and
bar suspended above the greenery.

|
But,
if there's one thing I do know from my travels
abroad, it's that the British like things done
properly. The décor here is fresh, clean and has
just enough Blighty clout to be taken seriously
- think fired-oak floors, black onyx surfaces,
Bellora linens, and English florals to lighten
the mood.
But with Hyde Park just around the corner, I'll
be sticking to the safety of the spa. Daddy won't
be amused.
