There
was a time when hunting for rare thrift treasures
was a pleasure, back before the vintage bomb went
off. But now, the delicacy of the hunt eclipsed,
it's about rifling through thirty cubic metres
of unsuitable garments to find the one piece you
like.

You
know how much 'retro
for the masses' irks me already, so I shan't harp
on about it.
But like a ray of light on a cloudy day, Ebay offered
a potential solution to the retro agony: no queues,
no Shoreditch Tax, and all from the privilege of your
desk/sofa. Now if only there was an inbuilt cr_p-filter.
Oh, and a spell-checker (listing that rare, '80s designer
jacket as 'Channel' or 'Doir' will not help me find
it, my dear).

But
what I really want is someone to dig
through the endless stash of used attire and find
that vintage Dior shirt for me. And maybe pair
it with some contemporary limited edition samples.
Basically, one of the vintage stores that I'm
so rude about, but minus all the rubbish, and
with one of their staff actually doing some work,
okay all the work for me. Hark! Is that
California
Select I see before me?
