Green Goes Global |
If someone described their new club with the phrase 'sustainable hedonism', harassing images of beaches in full neo-hippy thrall might start to impinge. Should they then mention that the club is in King's Cross and owned by one 'Dr. Earth' - a bald, softly-spoken, slightly portly millionaire in a white suit - things wouldn't improve much.

But, as Stella McCartney's sexy, newly-expanded eco-collection attests, green is cool. And Dr. Earth's Club4Climate is taking this eco-ubiquity to a whole new level.
Yes, of course the drinks are organic. And the glasses biodegradable (and please not too ugly). And the toilets use recycled water (hopefully not the taps too). And the £10 entrance fee is negated if you arrive by foot or bike and 'sign a pledge to work towards curbing climate change' (seriously). But the greatest strokes of genius are the sprung dancefloor that can generate 60% of the club's power, and the cracking opening line-up. |
Once Club4Climate UK is sorted, the concept then goes global. And there's the album. Oh, and the eco-friendly Club4Climate Island launching in 2010. We know eco is sexy, but just because you're going green clearly doesn't mean you have to keep it small (god knows we're tired of boutiquitis). Or not make a mint.
Club4Climate launches tomorrow, July 10, at Surya, 156 Pentonville Rd, N1 9JL
