Next weekend's a bit of a funny one. Not only is it a Bank Holiday (more drinking/hangover time: huzzah!), but Carnival Weekend to boot (meaning either charge West London, or flee it, depending). No matter what you get up to, though, it'll be messy. So then, for this weekend we propose a mixture of downtime, distraction and training taken once daily for the next three days. Junkies' orders.
This weekend's guide is brought to you in association with glacéau vitaminwater. With the hysterical ha ha ha hydration - this week's Thursday Night Hydration Club installment - happening tonight, remember to pop down after work for another quirky evening of music, laughter therapy, free glacéau vitaminwater and cocktails.

Shoreditch Shuffle
My, my, where to begin! For two nights in September, the infamous Shoreditch triangle (from 333 to AOP; the Hoxton Pony to Time For Tea) is going to be awash with the biggest, craziest, most frenzied mix of DJs, bands, activities, and all round carnage imaginable, including Mama Shamone, Akira the Don, and the Five O'Clock Heroes.

Ida
I can't help wondering whether there would be less street crime if every neighbourhood had its own Ida.
It's not so much that the cooking at this little family-run Italian gem in Kensal Rise is life-changing, but more that the whole homely experience makes you feel like the world's not such a bad place after all.
Although, saying that, the food, which is mainly Piemontese-influenced, is not at all bad. The pasta is 'fatto a casa' (homemade), there are starters that combine tender aubergine, oozing burrata and tomatoes that taste like tomatoes, and hearty dishes like pot roast veal and meatballs with, of course, tiramisu to finish.
But it's the friendliness of the staff and owners, the candles on tables and the wonderfully shabby-chic, faded quality of the place, as if you could be part of a sepia-tinted photo, that really gives you that feel-good feeling.
It's the kind of place you can forgive for running out of cold rose, even on the hottest night - and that's saying something.
