Summer Fix

Well then folks, it's the last week of August - the month of glorious weather and long weekends spent basking in London's beautiful parks - and that means it's back to the grindstone with us all. With you all back from holiday now, we'll be back to delivering our legendary(ish) Daily Fixes before you even know it. But, to get you through this last mini-week of so-called Summer, here's another bumper offering of a feature, distraction, spotlight, and a nugget from UJ's illustrious past.

This week's fixes:
For Your Convenience
Jurassic Encounter Crazy Golf, Turin Brakes at Proud Camden, Pimm's Summerfest, Le Gun Issue 4 & 'The Family' Launch, Martin Martini & The Bone Palace Orchestra
What's for Supper?: Secrets of the Dah Dah Sisterhood
ICA Bar/Cafe Relaunch Party Pictures

This week's Summer Fix is brought to you in association with glacéau vitaminwater.

From fuzztastic face adornment at the start of the month to the epic snail race after that, laughter therapy and all-round silliness to last week's hysterical helium karaoke, their thursday night hydration club installments have brought an early weekend to the West End.

If you're in the area, remember to pop by to rehydrate with a free glacéau vitaminwater.

FEATURE
For Your Convenience

by MaM

It is a brave soul indeed who tackles the Oxford Street strip.

Between buggies, Spanish schoolkids with matching neon backpacks, and the general dawdling public, it's a short but certain road to a nervous breakdown.

So we're fully embracing these recent migrations out of the centre scrum: Nike's new concept store off Curtain Road is an ingeniously designed mix of old-school gym equipment and techno touches, and makes a welcome change to the Babylonian Tower of Niketown on Oxford Circus; whilst Lee Jeans is also moving its new showroom out Shoreditch way.

EAT & DRINK : What's for Supper - Secrets of the Dah Dah Sisterhood

Want to be the next Daria Zhukova and land yourself a Russian billionaire? Apparently, the path is still through the stomach.

During my time in New York, I have been inducted into a kind of Russian sisterhood. We meet twice a week, drink Georgian wine, eat blinis and liver pate. We sip tea and munch on Turkish delight and quince kompot.

ARTS & CULTURE: ICA Bar/Cafe Relaunch Party Pictures

After a mini facelift from caterers Peyton & Byrne, (with Oliver Peyton, of The Great British Menu in situ), the ICA's 'members' bar was looking decidedly joyful for its relaunch. Candy coloured wall tiles, champagne and with Paloma Faith on the decks, guests were falling down the newly painted stairs by midnight.
