WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 22, 2008
Day of the Fed

There's a fine line between chimichanga and chimichanguh-oh. And Mexican Restaurants are pretty much notorious for occasionally getting it shockingly wrong.

Take Margarita Loca on Battersea Park Road, where the tables come festooned with sombreros, the walls are kaleidoscopic kitsch (and not in a good way), and the staff clearly do not take their thematic headwear to heart. Cue surly looking women in devil horns and resentful blokes peering out from under Pirate hats. Olé. Or not.

Whilst we still love Wahaca, those unfunny queues are now driving us Citywards and into the welcoming embrace of Chilango. The décor here is reminiscent of Dylan's Candy Bar in New York, with neon bright stools and colourful circular wall decals; an open kitchen lets you pick ingredients for fast and fresh burritos, tacos and salads; and cartoon wrestlers inject some mucha lucha spirit.

For the official launch this Friday, they've hooked up live wrestlers and a mariachi band for the entertainment, as well as free burritos and Corona for the select few. And not a sombrero in sight. Well, maybe just a couple.

UJ Offer: Print out this article and grab an amigo. Present it at the till at Chilango on Monday October 27th and receive 2-for-1 on any burrito, taco, or salad.
