FRIDAY OCTOBER 24, 2008 |
Everyone Loves a Good Whine |
|
|
|
Taryn
loves wine. Emma
loves wine. And I, with my partiality to
pretty much anything alcoholic, am of course
guilty of the odd encounter with a grapey
beverage. In fact, catch us on the right
day and the Urban Junkies office might, to the
untrained eye, resemble more of an Oddbins warehouse
than a hub of creative wit and social insight.

|
So
guess who'll be down at the Wine
Show this weekend, chatting away with Mssers.
Clarke and Skinner and their oenophilic kith,
whilst stocking up on all the new Vietnamese
and Jordanian vintages (the latest thing, apparently).
And yet, despite our best efforts, our stash
pales in comparison to the reserves of the illustrious
134 year old Wine
Society. Life membership is £40 (put that
in your pipe and smoke it, East
Room), and that gets you expert advice,
wine deals direct from growers (or their new
in-house label, Pinotage), and access to their
temperature and humidity regulated members'
reserves.
