There you are, minding your own business, when suddenly in bursts a crazed
little French woman and a troupe of twisted DJ types from Heaven.
Well, what're you going to do? So you run to Hell searching for
cover - you even try Blackpool on the way - and still they're
on your tail. So what's left but to settle into some festive storytelling?
That'll shake 'em.
This weekend's guide is brought to you in association with
Red Bull Cola. A cola from Red Bull? Yes, but with none of
that secret formula nonsense: this one is all natural, just like
the good old days. Should you fancy spicing things up, this refreshing
thirst quencher also makes a fantastic mixer. The citrus notes
are perfect with all rums, especially Morgan's Spiced Rum with
a squeeze of fresh lime, or splurge on Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum
for a signature drink in the making! Mixed or neat, and best served
chilled over ice, Red Bull Cola is the choice for those in the
know.

TASTING
NOTES |
|
The
cola from Red Bull. Distinctive in taste, a
refreshing thirst quencher and fantastic as
a mixer.
Over ice...
- Best served chilled, Red Bull Cola is the
choice for those in the know.
With rum...
- Produces a very good version of the classic
Cuba Libre: rum, cola and fresh lime
- The citrus notes and spicy flavour work well
with spiced rum
- In particular, Red Bull Cola works fantastically
well with Morgan's Spiced Rum, and a squeeze
of fresh lime. A signature drink in the making!
SAVE: Morgan's Spiced Rum
SPLURGE: Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum

Tsunami
Charlotte Street is one of those places
I always think I should head to more for culinary
satisfaction.
I've been meaning to go to Passione (the best Italian
in London, according to Jamie Oliver) for about fifteen
years and I'm always hoping my other half will surprise
one night with dinner at Pied de Terre, but sadly
I think the hallowed walls of that one will always
remain just out of reach.
A recent addition to the stretch is a bit more within
reach (of my wallet, at least) and, I'll bargain,
just as good, in terms of what you get on your plate,
as the other two. Sister restaurant to the original
Tsunami in Clapham, the new site is longer and somewhat
lovelier, in terms of deco, and serves the same beautious,
delicately-crafted food as its sibling, but just a
notch better.
From the sunkissed salmon (seared, carpaccio-ed and
drizzled with ponzu yuzu dressing) to the heartier
seafood toban (cooked in a clay pot with sake, mirin
and soy), suffice to say it's the perfect antidote
to these cold, drizzly nights.
And with the current 20% off before 7pm deal, this
might just be my new favourite West End modern Japanese.
