2009:
Year of the Filter |
|
|
|
New
year, new targets. Now I'm going to go
out on a limb and guess that you are either
out to drop a few pounds, quit smoking, and/or
drink less. Well, boo-ee for you. Personally?
Screw that. My 2009, I have decreed, is the
Year of the Filter. No. More. Cr*p. Seriously.
Life is too short.
|
|
Just
because I haven't been offered my mediocrity-culling,
invitation-only titanium
Amex - and at an 'updated' £1.8k
p.a. you'd better hope those perks are
up to scratch - doesn't mean I can't
demand my own crap-filter.
Take those little Wallpaper* city guides, for
example. Falling out of date faster than you
can holler 'Taxi!', they're essentially 21 year-old,
NYC underwear models: sexy, but effectively
useless.
Which is why I'm getting all excited about
their new hand-picked travel service. Four nights
in Bucharest, all Wallpaper*-planned and executed
for £800 including flights, car hire,
the whole shebang. They also do Tuscany, Miami,
and skiing in Norway, plus offer a bespoke service
if you're feeling flush. |
|
And,
without all those now-redundant guidebooks
taking up luggage space, that means there's
more space for, well, other crap. One
step at a time, people. I never said I
was perfect.
