Got Your Back

We had a bit of a technocrisis here at Castle UJ recently. Well, I say 'we' had a crisis - technically, it was our illustrious leader who melted her laptop.

For some folks, backing up their computers is second nature. Maybe they have it all bells-and-whistles automated; maybe they just do it manually. Either way, they're inevitably smug little buggers. And no more so than when someone else - a non-geek, inevitably - frazzles their hard drives. Which brings us neatly back to Taryn.

So if, like our Capitan, backing things up before your hard drive explodes isn't something you're crazy hot on, then here are a few solutions to help cover you before the metaphorical hits the fan.

The lazy option - £75 (home) or £100 (office) per hour
Professional and efficient, Geeks on Wheels charge by the hour (so its probably best not to get them out to change a fuse) but they'll turn up sharpish and get the job done.

The in-store option - starts at £29.99
Simply drop your beastly box of wires in with The Tech Guys and they'll back all your important files over onto CD/DVD for you to hang onto for when the world ends

The DIY option - RRP US$269
The impossibly sleek Neil Poulton-designed Lacie Max is our pick for the style-conscious technophile. It'll hold all the music, media and data you can throw at it and, with its 2001-esque gloss black exterior, it also looks hot on your desk. Which, hopefully, will make 'someone' more likely to use the d*mn thing... and as more than a glorified paperweight.
