There
is something so magical about your first bespoke
suit. It might be the way it hangs just
so, or subtly adjusts to your every movement.
Or else, it's the fact that, from fabric to
cut, every stitch and minute spent on it is
yours to wear forevermore.
|
|
Unfortunately,
when you take it home and hang it in the wardrobe
beside your other suits, they all suddenly seem
rather lacklustre. Like finding True Love, then
flicking through your old Little Black Book
of 'almosts'.
There is, however, something to be said for
brushing off the old favourites - at least as
far as clothing goes. Drop one of your 'less
perfect' suits in at Stowers,
for example, and the ex-Gieves & Hawkes
tailors will fully refurb and revamp it, accommodating
the odd extra pound (and decade) to leave you
with the Savile Row look, but without the re-mortgage.
|
|
Perhaps
taking a page from their refurbishment
book, Liberty's
have also been busily spitting and polishing
of late, finally unveiling their seemingly
safari-themed revamp on Valentine's day.
Which is, needless to say, the ultimate
occasion for dusting off 'old favourites'.
Assuming you haven't found the perfect
fit yet, of course.
