My Immortal |

 |
No
doubt we all have a slightly inflated
view of our own self-importance. So, whilst
I'd quite like a star on the Walk of Fame to
forever cast my notoriety in concrete, I'm realistic
about the extent of my reach (Streatham Hill:
yes. Hollywood: unlikely, unless the 137 changes
its route). Nor am I especially excited about
committing a newsworthy crime and going down
in the history books as a sociopath. |
 |
So
while I work on my debut novel, sure to make
me famous and be reissued as a Penguin Classic,
I'm going to use the one thing I have to my
immediate advantage: being nobody.
Rankin, he of the glossy fashion photographs,
is looking for 1000 'real' Brits to photograph
before September. If chosen, you get your own
Rankin for £50, with all proceeds going
to charity, and you'll star in the man's upcoming
retrospective at The Old Truman Brewery.
Or why not take part in Antony Gormley's new
work, One
and Other, which plans to put members of
the public up on Trafalgar Square's Fourth Plinth,
24/7 for 100 days starting this July.
