Oh come, come now children: chins up - there's a whole weekend of fun ahead! So as we dispatch Obamarama back to the US (and into the welcoming arms of the new Topshop, humph), we've got trunk shows and chocolate festivals, musical advice from the Germans (yes, really) and art openings to keep us occupied in old London Town.

FRIDAY

shopMade To Order
For those who take their fashion seriously, it's all about the trunk show - a private view where you can pre-order the good shiz, with a nice little discount on the side. So grab your other halves, and head down to Christopher Raeburn (beautiful women's outerwear) and Tim Soar's (tailored menswear) joint showing at Shoreditch House. And should you strike out on the clothing front, you can at least grab a spare on the club's bowling lanes with free games for all.

Time:
1pm-late
Place:
Shoreditch House, Ebor Street, E1 6AW
Cost:
Free entry, but rsvp essential
Info:
RSVP soar@soar-london.com

otherChocolate Festival
It's not even Easter and we're dreaming of chocolate. Specifically beheading chocolate bunnies and dashing the reproductive hopes of chocolate hens. So before we get to the murderous intensity that Easter is less traditionally known for, we'll be practising at the chocolate festival, complete with ganache making workshops, raw chocolate truffle creations, and the spectacle that is Skylon's chocolate trifle. Not forgetting the 'hiding the evidence' masterclass.

Time:
11am-8pm
Place:
Southbank Centre Square, Belvedere Road, SE1 8XX
Cost:
Free
Info:

This week's ORIGINAL pick: Berlin Meets Shoreditch
So pen-pals are painful, the very idea of home swaps distasteful, and now a nation who worships at the feet of The Hoff is telling you they're cool enough to do a club exchange with our very own Pony? Cast doubt aside, as Berlin's Spindler & Klatt are here tonight with Resident DJ Jack Flash showing us how they do it in Deutschland with an electro/house show of a most disorderly fashion. Geil, ja?

Time:
8pm-late
Place:
The Hoxton Pony, 104-108 Curtain Road, EC2A 3AH
Cost:
Free

SHOP

Topshop
If you're squirming with impotent rage at missing Topshop's NYC launch today (reportedly including a guest appearance from Miss Moss, performances by Santogold and Lady Ga Ga, as well as goody bags and gift cards worth up to $500. Boo.) head down to our own ickle flagship for the new Jonathan Saunders and Preen capsule collections, full of asymmetrical zig-zag dresses and gold zip detail. And wait for Sir Phil to remember us.

SUNDAY

MusicFibonacci Sequence
Like hormonally overactive rabbits, the Fibonacci numerical sequence (add the previous two digits to get the next, etc), seems to serve no point but to multiply itself into a mindless oblivion. Which doesn't serve well for the musical collective of the same name, who will be performing pieces of Hayden, Bach and Mozart on the flute, piano and strings tonight. Sadly no rampant multiplying, but plenty of top melodical distraction which might just ease the way.

Time:
6:30pm
Place:
King's Place, Hall One, 90 York Way, N1 9AG
Cost:
£14.50
Info:

artWhitechapel Gallery Re-opening
Promising a year-round schedule and 'something for everybody', today marks the reopening of this century-old art institution after an ambitious £13.5 million expansion, doubling its size. Featuring a retrospective on Isa Genzken, the British Council Collection's 'Great Early Buys', work by radical Eastender The Whitchapel Boys, and films by Ursula Mayer, the crowning glory must be the presence of a version of Picasso's anti-war work Guernica, 70 years after the original was shown there.

Time:
11am-6pm
Place:
77-82 Whitechapel High Street, E1 7QX
Cost:
Free
Info:

EAT & DRINK

Moxon's
Having just returned from Switzerland where I ate my own body-weight several times over in fondue and rosti, I am craving fish and healthy stuff like a grizzly that's just crawled out of its cave.

Conveniently, one of my local food heroes Robin Moxon has just opened his third fishmongers in South Kensington. But that's not a restaurant, I hear you cry - well, Moxon is not your average fish-flogger. A favourite of Gordon Ramsay and other picky food fanatics, Moxon really knows his stuff and his Clapham and East Dulwich branches have built up a cult following for their flippingly fresh selection that includes Maldon oysters and Newlyn Dover sole and their expert advice on how to prepare it all.

Moxon's South Ken has gone one further, installing their own in-house sushi chef so, if the sun shines, you can pick some tuna sashimi and a pint of prawns (as well as a few condiments from their well-chosen selection) for a picnic in the park; and if it doesn't there's freshly-made fish pie to stick in the oven when you get home.

But I say go for a masterclass in all things piscine and surprise yourself with how satisfying, not to mention more reasonable, it is to knock up a bit of line-caught bass yourself.
