This weekend guide is brought to you by álaMODE.se - the one-stop site for fashionable Sweden.
The summer is here! (Seasonal prediction accurate at time of writing; no guarantees attached or insinuated; terms and conditions apply.) And what's better than a bit of the old UV lovin'? Why, a weekend of it to boot. And better than that? Try a weekend of fashion-music crossovers, '80s dress-up kitsch, film, music, and a gratis ice-cream van as the cherry (or flake, to keep our analogies straight) on the top.
And in case you hadn't gotten our hint so far: Sweden is cheap right now. And we mean cheap. Throw into that a wealth, nay barrage of top fashion stores - big name and indie alike - and a veritable army of sleek restaurants, cafés and bars, and it's got to make you wonder why you're still even sitting at your desk reading this. With next week's long weekend coming up, if you haven't booked anything yet, you know where we're recommending.

Garbstore
The Sakura season in Japan marks the official beginning of Spring. To celebrate, cool Kensington boutique Garbstore is offering up to 50% off its exclusive Japanese brands this Saturday, including Mountain Research, Terrem, Gauntlets and Bedwin & The Heartbreakers. As the only official stockists of these cult collections outside of Japan, get ready to get your Sumo on - there could be a scrum.

East End Film Festival
I remember the excitement of my first 3D movie as a kid: the blurred blue/red images that lunged out at me from the screen. But there was always something unsatisfying about the experience (I blame the fact that, as awed as I was, I already had perfectly good 3D vision without the weird specs). Still, even without the wealth of old-school 2D flicks on offer, the chance to experience some brand new, realer-than-real 3D offerings out East gets me giddy all over again.

Beefeater Gin Masterclass
Happy St George's Day! What, you didn't remember? Whilst we may not be as effusive as the Irish, or as enthusiastic as the Scots, we're no fools. Celebrations call for drinks. Harvey Nics' Fifth Floor Restaurant is holding a Beefeater Gin masterclass today, promising to teach you a little history, feed you a three course, gin-inspired dinner, and of course, give you a little tipple. We've come over all patriotic.

Brasserie Max
The Covent Garden hotel, part of Tim and Kit Kemp's eclectically stylish Firmdale group, is a little oasis of old world charm and well-upholstered comfort - a particular find in an area not known for its luxey vibe.
Its restaurant, Brasserie Max, has just been spruced up so it's now bigger and better, with a long pewter bar, a couple of private dining rooms and a cosy drinks area.
I, personally, am looking forward to trying the new three course set menu - featuring things like crispy squid, asparagus and coriander salad, wild mushroom, spinach and taleggio risotto with truffle salsa, and Valrhona chocolate brownie with honeycomb ice cream- a flavoursome snip at £19.95.
Or if you fancy a spot of afternoon tea, make the most of the wide range of loose-leaf infusions on offer to accompany your champagne rhubarb tartlets and scones with homemade jam and clotted cream
A consistently reliable classic just got that bit more polished. And look out for Firmdale's first Stateside hotel, Crosby Street, due to open in NYC in September.
Nothing like a home from home.
