Weekend Guide
UJ Banner

Clearly the most exciting thing to come back this weekend, apart from our sense of taste (don’t ask) is Jodie Harsh's clubtacular night - Circus. And how will Jodie be warming up for this massive return? Why by DJing at UJ and glacéau Vitaminwater's nights of Soho-based iniquity of course! Those who don’t turn up will get a spanking. As will those who do. So, dear reader, it’s really a win win situation we’re giving you here. See you there!

COME PARTY WITH UJ
The Berry Light District

If you haven’t already done so, get your RSVPs in for UJ and glacéau vitaminwater’s two nights of weird and wonderful performances, free drinks, and DJ sets by the incomparable Miss Jodie Harsh. We promise it’ll be a spanking good time, and probably the only chance your other half will give you to step behind one of Soho’s notorious red curtains.

FRIDAY

lightlifeCircus
If you’ve been missing Circus (and we’re not talking Britney – though she has really come leaps and bounds with her latest threesome single, no?) then you’re in luck. Jodie Harsh’s massive club-night is back with a stellar line-up, including DJ sets from Paloma Faith, Kris di Angelis and Felicity Hayward, Bishi performing live, and entertainment from the ever-eccentric Scottee. We cant guarantee a Spears-style orgy, but there’ll be a fair bit of whip cracking action.

icon Affordable Art Fair
Left feeling a bit cold from Frieze? Didn’t get lucky with Free and the Zoo just wasn’t all it was cracked up to be? Head down to the Affordable Art Fair’s tenth anniversary show this weekend, where you can snap up arty originals from a meagre £50, with a glass of wine in hand. Make it three, four or five visits to the bar, and you might be walking away with a rather larger, ahem, investment, so imbibe wisely. UJ subscribers can get 2 for 1 tickets by printing off this page – so at least you’re saving a little there. Just don’t stumble into the park’s pond on your way home and reduce your watercolour to, well – water.

Time:
11am – 6pm
Place:
Battersea Park, Queenstown Road, SW11 4NJ
Cost:
£12 – get 2 for 1 tickets by quoting UJ.

TONIGHT
The Wine Show Reader Offer

Kicking off tonight (so now you have a ‘cultural/educational’ excuse to knock off work and get drinking), The Wine Show is a 4 day oenophile-fest of expert advice, tasting sessions, independent producers, and bargain prices. Plus, UJ fave The East Room will have their own lounge & bar where you can play drinking games and enjoy a little Southern (hemisphere) hospitality. Quote URBANVIP and get 2 for 1 tickets, (usually £12 each), as well as a 10 day temporary membership to private clubs The East Room and Milk&Honey.

With a late license securely under their belts, this extra-long evening of stellar DJ sets and yes, a BBQ for the midnight munchies, is headlined by Horse Meat Disco’s amazing Severino, who will be rocking the dancefloor throughout a four hour set in the basement, whilst The Cosmic Truth provide disco and pop classics to those on the groundfloor. Fingers crossed for the Lionel Richie classic – to be consumed with cheeseburgers.

UJA Little Bazaar
Forget shizzy bits of homemade felt taped to a pin and called a brooch (ok, so I’ve had some pretty uninspiring bazaar experiences) – A Little Bazaar promises colourful streetwear and accessories from My Tribe Fashion, a manly jumble courtesy of Shoreditch’s own Delboy Dave Spikey, multidisciplinary art from Ester Kneen, retro kitsch from Crumpet & Skirt, and Japanese accessories by Miwa Princess Lunch. All in the cosy environs of The Book Club – so grab a game of ping-pong and some grub afterwards.

Time:
12pm – 6pm
Place:
The Book Club, 100 Leonard Street, EC2A 4RH.
Cost:
Free
