The weather outside has truly been frightful – but as the song goes, it’s all part of the impending Winter Wonderlandy–ness. So, before you go and build a snowman (out of what, we don’t know) and name him Parson Brown, why not spend the weekend getting frosty at an Après Ski Party take in some techno whilst skating, learn how not to mess up your tree (or indeed, go and see what a real mess looks like), and wash it all down with some mulled wine at the Serpentine’s seasonal pop–up. And sing a love song. Because that’s how the lyrics go, and we’re sticklers for tradition. Plus it’s kinda nice, no? |

TODAY
Tree Teach
Over the years UJ’s string of festive firs have suffered the indignity of giant lollipops strapped to their branches, Moroccan camels dangling from their needles and even an Ugly Doll in lieu of a tree-top fairy. So we’ll be first in line for John Lewis’ series of tree tutorials, which cover Versatile, Anything Goes, Vintage and Classic Nostalgia styles using their gorgeous range of baubles, ornaments, ribbons and lights. Save us from our Willy Wonka décor selves, Jean-Louis!
11am on 18th, 19th and 20th November. To book, email John Lewis Oxford Street on: promotions_oxford_street@johnlewis.co.uk.

Mess
We would advise those of a delicate disposition to turn back to fluffy bunnies and kittens now. Not that Scottee's shows are ever for the faint hearted. His latest tour de force, Mess, promises to be a vomiting, urinating, bloody mess, as the controversial performance artist explores human function, decay and experimentation, physically committing to his audience like never before. But will his body be able to endure an hour of projectile vomiting & live mastectomy? And more importantly, will you be sticking around to find out? |

Serpentine Bar & Kitchen’s Pop Up
Winter Wonderland is back and this time, it’s coming with it’s very own high-profile pop-up. Because let’s face it, you’re nothing without your own pop-up these days. So, after taking a ride on the Ferris wheel and sampling a little German handicraft, head down to the Serpentine Bar & Kitchen’s communal wooden benches for roasted chestnuts, mulled wine and cider, hog roasts, stewed fruits, plum pudding and live music. If you listen very carefully, you might even hear sleigh bells – glistening snow however, we can’t guarantee. |
