For us Londoners, it’s just another weekend – but across the pond it’s time to join hands, pie pumpkins, gear up for Black Friday (shopping carnage) and be grateful for another year of blessings. Here at UJ we also have a list of things we are thankful for, including (but not limited to): a bonanza weekend of sample sales, Party Yurts, art in exchange for favours (not always sexual), a whole world of alcohol under one roof, and Jordan leaving the jungle. Amen. |

Ladies – if you’re stuck for Christmas party outfits and happen to be the size of your average supermodel/celebrity, you’re in luck. Art Barter
First there was the Free Art Fair (Jasper Joffe’s big giveaway), then there was the RCA Secret (choosing postcard sized art by potentially famous hands for a nominal sum). Now there’s Art Barter, because the art world is tired of freebies and your cash is useless. Instead, pick unsigned pieces by the likes of Tracy Emin, Nick Hornby, Gavin Turk and Abigail Lane, and offer an exchange – whether it’s your Mum’s priceless Ming vase, an offer of a cooked meal, or sexual favours (unless you end up with Emin, in which case that might make you part of her next artwork). |

Who needs Santa when the kind folks in fashion are practically throwing their wares our way? This weekend get hold of handbags from Hindmarch, fast fashion from French Connection, jewellery by Sam Ubhi and Erickson Beamon, and designer duds from Valentino, in the couture house’s first ever UK sale. Grab the coffees, dress light, and sharpen those elbows.

Bibulous Pop Up World of Drinks
Tasting tables, sampling sessions, cocktail stations, and a wines and beers zone make up this huge world of drinks in the already tasty Borough Market. Work your way around The Green & Red Bar & Cantina Tequila Taste–Ins, Chairman's Rum shack–vintage van, Absinthe classes, and a Bacardi Mojito cocktail lounge, just to start. There’ll also be a Spirits Amnesty, where you can bring in your embarrassing, dusty old bottles for a cocktail trade in, and a gifting concierge for the hard–to–buy–for friends in your life, whose names, ages and addresses you’ll have forgotten after ten minutes in here. Chrishhhhmassh who?

COMPETITION
Secret Cinema Tickets
Secret Cinema have taken their hidden film screenings to new, interactive levels – who else is gutted they missed a visit aboard the Halloween spaceship from Alien? The Christmas special taking place this Friday and Saturday is set to be a swanky, razzle–dazzle twenties event, full of secret meets under the bridge, flowers for the boss and the best dressed molls in town. We have one pair of tickets for the Saturday matinee at 2pm to give away. Simply tell us: ‘What was the first Secret Cinema event?’ to be in with a chance of winning.

Crepe City
Get your street side out for this, the capital’s first ‘sneaker festival’ which is taking over the Notting Hill Arts Club with arty streetwear and trainer stalls, displays, fresh crepes (somewhat mysteriously, but hey, we’ll take it) a nail bar, and retro films, before the night kicks off with hip hop, dancehall, garage and grime courtesy of The Heatwave, Alexander Nut, FunkinEven, Reecha and more.

TONIGHT
Get Tested, Get Covered!
The title, admittedly, makes us think of frightening trips to the doctor for blood tests and jabs – and if that’s your idea of a good night out, you’re in the wrong place. Tonight’s event, in aid of Hep C awareness, features lots of celebrity guests taking part in Cover to Cover, the clubnight that features only cover versions of your favourite tracks. Expect Sadie Frost and Boy George to karaoke it out upstairs, whilst downstairs the likes of Ed Simons (Chemical Brothers) will be spinning the decks.
The Paradise, 19 Kilburn Lane, W10 4AE. 8pm-3am, £10, 7pm-1am.
