The Popbitch Popquiz has really settled into its monthly slot at The East Room, complete with a warm and savvy crowd of regular, no offence intended, Popbitches. While over in Angel, the legendary Rough Trade Pop Quiz takes care of the musically-preoccupied (but it’s worth it for everyone, if just for the ‘name that tune’ round played on an old Casio).
Now if you fancy taking on something even more niche, then how do ‘Dead Celebrities’ or ‘80s Power-Balads’ sound for themed topics? In which case, get ye to Camden’s Black Heart, where each quiz’s theme is almost as randomly generated as some of the night’s answers. I can’t help wondering what it is about this themed pub quiz renaissance that makes it so darn endearing. Perhaps it’s because deep-down, none of us have really lost that childish desire to win something real; something worthwhile like University Challenge, Mastermind or even the hallowed Crystal Maze.
But if you really can tell your Versace from your elbow then look no further than A Fashionable Pub Quiz for your post-weekend kick, where hipsters fashion (sorry) next season’s collections from plasticine while remembering which year it was that Naomi famously stacked it on the catwalk.
