Luxx opens today and only has room for 200. To be one of them, you need to get an introduction. Conceived by Luca Maggiora of Maddox Club, it promises suitably swish interiors (how’s a glass runway of light for you?) and an expertly tended bar stocked with homemade goodies like hibiscus syrup to concoct a cocktail menu put together by Fifty St James alumni.
But if bubbles are your main priority and you want guaranteed entry with a hefty ‘I’m an important person’ price tag, check out the Brompton Club. £10,000 gets you a £5000 bar tab, a Vertu phone with direct-dial concierge, lifetime access to a space designed by the guys behind Whisky Mist and Mahiki, and of course an invite to Krug’s annual dinner party at the Dorchester.
And if that’s all given you a headache, go home – or at least to Home House, whose bar, lounge and drawing rooms in the adjacent Number 21 building are finally being re-launched after a hefty Candy & Candy refurb. Ah, there’s no place like home – and the only person you need to know to get in, already lives there.
