This extra-long bank holiday weekend Urban Junkies have decided to go on hiatus, move to the country and retire to a life of sock-knitting, dog-walking and complaining about the post-office. We’ve had it with the city. We’re going rural. So we’re leaving you with some seriously rubbish recommendations, full of shop openings we hate, parties that are sure to suck and Easter bashes minus the bunny – because we’ve kidnapped him (and all the eggs) too. And if you believed any of that, you must be the biggest April Fool of all. Happy Easter!

TODAY
Ted Baker’s Floral Street Store Re-Opens
It may be April Fool’s Day but we promise we’re not pulling your leg with this one – following an amazing refurbishment, Ted Baker’s Covent Garden shop is re-launching today with 3 days of music, activities and giveaways on the agenda. There’ll be magicians performing slight of hands in store today, Miss Ballooniverse blowing up the space tomorrow, and DJs spinning on Saturday with cocktails courtesy of Bloom Gin and cupcakes from Lola’s Kitchen throughout. And don’t forget the clothes – Ted’s fresh for Spring collection will be available too.

TONIGHT
ETA Easter Party
Decking a disused cinema out with an Alice In Wonderland theme for Easter, ETA are putting on an obscure, weirdly wonderful way to start your weekend. There’ll be a live performance from the Cuban Brothers as well as the Glimmers, Lazersonic, Assad Rizvi and Jimmy V on the decks. To top it off, a light show by Damjan and Funktion 1 Sound will dazzle you right down the rabbit hole.
10pm-5:30am, Shepherd's Bush Pavilion,
58 Shepherd’s Bush Green, W12 8QE.
£15 adv, £20 door.

SHOP
Bicester Village British Design Collective
It takes a special kind of deal to get us off of our collective bums and outside of the M25 – but Bicester’s latest offering has already got us route-planning. In association with the British Fashion Council, the designer discount village has created a special boutique filled with some of Fashion Week’s favourite names, including House of Holland, Julian McDonald, Erdem and Preen, not to mention the avante-garde goodness of Hannah Marshall, Mark Fast and Bora Aksu, with up to 50% off. Time to get the old banger out of the drive and onto the open road – just make sure to keep the boot nice and empty.
Bicester Village, 50 Pringle Drive, OX26 6WD. 31st March-16th Mat. 10am-6pm.

Circus 4th Birthday
My how soon they grow up... Jodie Harsh’s Circus is turning four, and to celebrate she’s brought in a porn star. Sob. Well, actually it’s gay porn star and muse to Bernhard Willhelm, Francois Sagat, who’ll be joined on his Go Go Box by Mr Hudson (not coitally, more companionably) who’s doing an exclusive DJ set. Chew Lips and Miss Harsh will also be taking to the decks, whilst the incomparable Scottee rounds out this birthday bash of (literally) stratospheric proportions, which also marks the beginning of a regular residency at Paramount. |

BOOK AHEAD
Nomad Chef Secret Restaurant
The latest underground supperclub to hit the block comes courtesy of a globe-trotting food lover in the heart of Holland Park, whose name remains strictly hush-hush. Still, the menu’s no mystery and we recommend you book in now for the Spring Break special, which includes an aperitif in the garden, followed by three world-wise courses, an acoustic musician for entertainment and great company.
7th April, 7:30pm-11pm, £30 bring your own beverage, £40 with wine pairings.

FUNNY FARM
The Oxford Cambridge Goat Race
If the thought of Rahs rowing their boats in teeny tiny lycra tankinis isn’t doing it for you this year (though let’s face it, what’s not to like?) why not do your bit for your furry friends down the farm? The Goat Race pits Bramble and Bentley in a hair-raising race of sibling rivalry all in the aid of charity, with a bookie on board to take your bets, goatee knitting competitions and treats from the Delamere Dairy, Billy Goats Stuff and the Bruncheon Club. We’ll eat our hats if you don’t have a good time – or else the contestants will.
3rd April, 2:30pm-5pm, Spitalfields City Farm, Buxton Street, E1 5AR.

This week’s hippest foodie destination
Cielo
3 New Burlington Street, W1S 2JF – 020 7297 2893
Location
Above bijou nightspot Luxx, just inside the Mayfair perimeter.
Vibe
Tuesday night (when we went) is the new Thursday (or was that Wednesday?), at Cielo at least, so the place was jumping with smooth Italians and leggy club babes, yet the buzz was fun and relaxed rather than intimidating.
Flavours
Sardinian chef Monserrato Marini knows his stuff. Fritto of baby squid, whitebait and zucchini was delicately crisp and moreish and pancetta-wrapped lamb with rosemary and black truffle deliciously savoury and aromatic. Expertly-blended cocktails are courtesy of Andreas Jansson’s easy-on-the-eye team.
Décor
Laid back glam with cream leather banquettes, perspex and mirrors, and a mezzanine lounge which I’m told will become an alfresco terrace in the summer.
Upshot
Glossy but unpretentious - like a hip Southern Italian hotspot - open til 4am and serving exceedingly good food. Book the table by the bar for the liveliest experience.
