TONIGHT
The People’s Pizza
You’ve cast your vote, what’s done is done. But if you’re like a kid at Christmas and can’t bear to wait and wake up for the election results, head down to Pizza Express (so it’s not super swanky, but their dough balls can’t be beat) on Millbank where they’re pulling an all–nighter with live screenings of the coverage. Order the People’s Pizza, which comes with representative ingredients (guess who’s having quails’ eggs and caviar?) and issues like the economy immortalised by pancetta – or bringing home the bacon. Smart eats – but will it help turn the country from sow’s ear into silk purse?
Pizza Express, 25 Millbank, SW1P 4QP, People’s Pizza £11.95. Book a table by calling: 0207 9766214.

Festival line–Up from Resident Advisor
It’s all about choices today, from who’s going to run the country to which festival’s going to rock your summer – clearly both of equal import. For a helping hand (with the latter) check out Resident Advisor’s Top Ten List of June’s festivals which span from Austria to Australia, taking in country houses in Ireland, electronic siestes en France, and Taico Club in Japan along the way, as well as big hitters Glastonbury and Sonar.

OUT OF TOWN
And A Miserable Day To You Too
We thought we had crap attitudes and sarcasm pretty much under the thumb here in Blighty, but the trendsetters over at Paris’ Colette have obviously got us sussed. Their newest in–store exhibition comes courtesy of New York artist Craig Redman, whose miserable, monocled character Darcel has been immortalised in a series of bright, bold paintings, prints, sculptures and merchandise that we’re dying to get our hands on, including the ‘Koalas are C*nts’ print, ‘Have a Crap Day’ tote and ‘Facebook Tagging Sucks’ lighter. Feeling sh*tty has never been so chic.
May 3rd-29th, Colette, 213 Rue Saint–Honoré, 75001 Paris.

Peace, Love and Mud
You’ve got to love that festivals have become as much about music, mud and mutual love as fringed waistcoats, wellies and weirdly wonderful fashion choices. Don’t even pretend that you haven’t sourced and selected half of your summer wardrobe already. Get more inspiration from Mulberry’s latest artistic collaboration with photographer Venetia Dearden’s new book, a beautiful collection of photographs featuring Glastonbury Festival-goers and stunning scenic shots. They’re even hosting a party at the main event, so you might be the subject of her next publication.
Glastonbury, Another Stage, £30.

This week's hottest foodie destination
Koya
Demure udon noodlerie
49 Frith Street, W1D 4SG - www.koya.co.uk
Location
Although this modest newcomer is in good epicurean company, with Barrafina and Arbutus nearby, despite the navy canvas-curtained entrance it’s one of those places you could easily walk by thinking it’s just another okay Soho Japanese.
Vibe
You’d have to have been telepathic to know it was opening three weeks ago. There is a no reservations policy and there currently isn’t even a phone number, just opening times on the minimal website. Based on the idea of an authentic Japanese workman’s caff, and partly inspired by the similarly low-key Kunitoraya in Paris, you can linger over shochu and small plates but generally the idea is come in, grab a bowl of noodles and go. Puddings? Pah!
Flavours
It’s all about freshly-made udon noodles, kneaded by foot on site under a plastic canvas I might add; usually to the sound of Radio 4 says owner John Devitt, a former Zafferano chef who used to run The Island in Kensal Green with Olly Daniaud. You can have the noodles hot or cold, accompanied, for instance, by prawn and vegetable tempura or pork and miso paste and supported by homemade pickles, marinated mushrooms and slices of tender duck breast.
Décor
Pretty straight forward and authentic with lots of clean, light wood, coat hooks at a practical level alongside each table and a very cool counter area at the back where you can get a closer look at what you’re about to eat.
Upshot
Fergus Henderson brought his family to dine here the other day and Polpo’s Russell Norman is a huge fan. The buzz has just begun.
