It’s been a big old week for the rich and famous – Dannii’s popped a boy, Cheryl’s landed herself in hospital and Lindsey’s looking at jail time. Makes us feel lucky to be mere mortals. But if you’re fit for a famous fix, now’s your last chance to get tickets for Lovebox next weekend, and catch Dizzee Rascal on Friday, Empire of the Sun and Mark Ronson on Saturday, and Grace Jones on Sunday. Elsewhere we have fright nights and bike nights, heart art and jazz on the lawn, or if you’re planning on catching the football finale, do it in Hoola style. Just don’t get arrested for indecent lays.

TONIGHT
Tokyobike Pop-Up Launch
Eco-shmeco – we haven’t given up our Oyster cards and we’re betting neither have you, right? But if you’ve been toying with the idea of going two-wheeled, now might be the perfect time to dig out your streamers. Tokyobikes are super sleek, thin bikes (the body only weighs 10kg) that come in fun colours, with straight handlebars and slimline tires perfect for manoeuvring tricky London traffic. Not convinced? Pop down to the store tonight before it launches on Friday to have a little test-run.
6-9pm, Tokyobike Pop-Up, 117 Commercial Street, E1 6BG. |

BOOK AHEAD
Vauxhall Motors Bowling Club
Following on from the success of their skate and ice-skate soirees, Vauxhall Motors are making a foray into summer with a lazy day of bowls. But don’t expect a moth-ridden scoreboard and crusty contestants – the event will be held in a psychedelic English country garden with multi-coloured flowers and clubhouse, with Mathew Horne doing the DJ honours, T4’s Rick Edwards hosting and a super duper mystery band being kept under wraps. Apply online to enter the ticket draw and start dusting off those flat caps.
1st August.

Paul Smith Kids
The closest UJ has come to a child is the office plant, which suffered a terrible demise during last summer’s heat wave – and is still sitting on the windowsill. But we know chic kids when we see ’em (still lusting after Stella’s GAP tutu). Which is why we’re saving our pennies and considering borrowing a sprog now, just so we can dress it in Paul Smith’s fantastic new Junior range come August; think dapper little suits, correct cashmere and perfect pea coats in stripes, florals and fairisle all appropriated from the mainline collections. Can we babysit?

This week’s hottest foodie destination
The Phene
Bestie’s old boozer gets a sexy revamp.
9 Phene Street, SW3 5NY - 020 7352 9898
www.thephene.com
Location
Originally built in 1853 by Dr John Samuel Phene, an antiquarian and avid tree-planter, this tucked away public house became even more legendary as the preferred hangout of the late ball-kicking lothario George Best.
Vibe
With glam new land-lady Lily Bourne at the helm, the old place has been considerably tarted up, with the St Tropez-style terrace out front fast becoming filled with fresh fruit cocktail-loving Chelsea blondes and their cohorts.
Flavours
For something a little more substantial choose from an eclectic menu that includes fish and chips and a subtly spicy orange chicken curry – Lily’s parents Sally Greene and Robert Bourne own Cheyne Walk Brasserie down the road, as well as Ronnie Scott’s and other London landmarks, so she’s had some good examples to draw from - while at the bar there are Breton ciders and some well chosen wines.
Décor
With its combination of jazz-club lighting and banquettes in the ‘saloon’ and silver flock wallpaper and deep plum furnishings in the upstairs lounge-cum-boutique (where Lily London frocks designed by Bourne are on display) this is not your average gastropub. There’s even a deli in the back where you can grab freshly made salads, Monmouth coffee and cakes.
Upshot
Yes, it’s all very Chelsea but the precocious Miss Bourne has a hawk’s eye for detail; she’s created an organic signature-scented ‘Phene’ candle with Neom that’s sold in the deli and has bigger plans ahead. Richard Caring, watch your back.
