Apparently it’s a full moon. Something must be up because we’re a). Super hungry, and b). Super irritable. Particularly with people who stop to have lengthy discussions in the middle of Oxford Street, with suitcases in tow (anyone else noticed a proliferation of wheelie bags lately?! Is there a tube line going abroad that we’ve missed?) Move. Seriously. So to cheer ourselves up, and stop any werewolf like transitions, we’re going to take the soul train to karaoke heaven, cosy up with an(y) other half, sate our appetites with a bizarre banquet, and laugh at others’ sexual misery. Yes, that does make us feel better – you?

TONIGHT
Jameson Cult Film Club
Secret cinemas and filmic pop–ups seem to have been all the rage this summer – but for once, instead of sending you out into the cold or making you dress like a Bedouin, we’re recommending a screening of cult classic Taxi Driver in the rather apt location of the Brewer Street Car Park. You’ll have to register as a member of the film club online in order to apply for access, and if you’re unlucky make sure you check out the box office’s other offerings to bag yourself a parking spot.
23rd September, Brewer Street Car Park, 2 Lexington Street, W1F 0LA. |

SHOP
When You Entertain
There is a certain UJers fridge which is never, ever to be found bereft of Diet Coke. Such is the pull of this classic brand that it’s celebrating over 100 years as part of family mealtimes (and singleton ready-meal sessions) with a rather cute limited edition cookbook of recipes collated by the likes of Tom Aikens and Julia Parsons. Recipes include Steak, Egg & Hash, Sausage & Mash, Lamb Shanks with Honey Roast Garlic, Coca Cola Sticky Ribs and Apple Crumble, interspersed with vintage Coca Cola illustrations. We love (and hate) the handy nutritional information at the foot of each page. Live on the Coke (and relatively healthy) side of life, right?
£45 as part of a Harvey Nichols hamper which includes key ingredients from the book, for one month only. |
