As Autumn well and truly sets in UJ have one thing on their pretty (yes) little (metaphorical) minds – revamping our winter wardrobes. Sure we’d love to snap up the catwalk’s finest, but our wallets are whinging and the sample sale trail is starting to do our heads in. And with the upcoming post-work social scene we’re drowning in professional-to-play dilemmas that send us careening into panic e-shopping benders.
Which is why we’re heading over to TK Maxx’s new Gracechurch Street store, opening tomorrow, smack bang in the middle of The City with the promise of up to 60% off designer labels. Set in a beautiful old building we’ve had a preview and we’re seriously impressed. Big name handbags from latticed Italian shoppers to Parisian purses. Bouclé wool cocoon coats and soft-as-butter leather jackets. Heavy kimono-esque cardigans and psychedelic-silk dresses. Menswear (amazing selection of blazers), womenswear, serious handbags and shoes (Americana heart-adorned platforms please) are all on offer in an easy-to-navigate space.
And, since the introduction of their new ‘Gold Label’ department, it’s even easier to sift out the big-bang bargains from global designer names with – UJ’s last trip to the Charing Cross store ended in the purchasing of the most perfect draped dress by one of our favourite Milan Fashion Week labels - £499 down to £70. No really. We’re newly obsessed.
And to appease all you early-birds willing to catch the proverbial worm (and believe us, you’ll want to be the first through the doors), the new store is open for trading from 7:30am tomorrow with DJs, free shoe-shines and refreshments. Plus, the first 500 shoppers through the door will get a £10 voucher to spend in-store – and with new drops coming in every day, it’s worth telling your other half you’re ‘conference calling Asia’ to be the first in line. Now that’s smart trading.
