Weekend Guide
UJ Banner

Gameshow buffs at the ready and fingers on your buzzers this weekend; you'll need to be quick to rattle through the awesome events line-up, starting with the unveiling of the RCA's secret postcards tomorrow – check them out online before the sale on the 20th. Then go old school with Biggie and the gang or a little bowling, classical with the opera and some new theatrical talent, and futuristic with a group of 21st century craftsmen and 21st century digital media adventures. It's like the Crystal Maze – pick a zone and try not to get locked in. The only thing we don't have is a hopeless finale in a giant diamond blowing banknotes through the air. Thanks for playing.

TODAY
Paul Smith Props Sale

We love Paul Smith's Albemarle Store for its interior inspiration. The man certainly has an eye, and now you can too. Whilst this special furniture and props sale may not include any of Smithy's own far-flung finds, there will be plenty of colourful cushions, furnishing fabrics and unique pieces of design from his lovely label to turn your flat into a showcase of style. Fake it to make it.

10th-12 November, 9am-6pm,
37 Kingsway, Holborn,
WC2B 6TP

TONIGHT
Buy a Better You

Yes, that was Scottee throwing the first handful of cake as one of Rihanna's rowdy entertainers on the X-Factor. But want to know what he'd really like to swap for a slice? A kiss, a cuddle and some Motherly love – all topics addressed in this exploration of the performance artist's turbulent childhood, as well as the launch of his EP and some insight into what you can do with a rolled up twenty. The Mayor of Camden will be doing the introductions – which beats Simon Cowell and the mysterious man with the booming voice any day.

Bistroteque, 23-27 Wadeson Street, E2 9DR. 8pm, £7.

NIGHTLIFE: Wild Style
2Pac's 'California Love', Ice Cube's 'You Can Do It', and LL Cool J's 'Doin It' set the tone for this awesome night of 90's hip hop - think Warren G, Gang Starr, Outkast and if you're really struggling, Coolio. Ok, so maybe leave the Big Brother star's Gangster Paradise to the side, but definitely pop down to see 7oel, Kojack and Emily Rawson on the decks, with drinks at old school prices to boot – we haven't seen a vodka and a mixer at £2.20 since our student days. But then we haven't bumped to Biggie's 'Hypnotise' in about as long. Time to get back on the bike.

SHOP
NikeTown London

UJ were lucky enough to take a tour around NikeTown London's revamped space with Olympic hurdler Perri Shakes-Drayton, including the new womenswear floor - and man were we impressed. Working out just seems so much more doable when you've got a good look to change into, so take your pick from the various pants shapes (we like the legging-cut joggers), a bra bar that'll make you seriously reconsider than underwear as outerwear trend, and Dri-FIT hoodies that come with cut outs to fit your ponytail through. Throw in expert advice, gait analysis, a Tuesday female-only running club come the New Year (with lockers to dump your work gear in while you're out) and big spacious changing rooms for an all round win-win; which is just what you'll be doing in your snazzy new sneakers, right? Check out our pictures here.

If you fancy something a little different after dinner, pop along to Shunt and after a little site-specific 'Tiny Distractions', check out this new performance by graduates of the MA Performance course at Central Saint Martins. This week’s hottest foodie destination

Wahaca
Our favourite Mexican opens the fourth member of its family in Soho.

80 Wardour Street, W1F 0TF - 020 7734 0195
www.wahaca.co.uk

Location
At the bottom end of Wardour Street in the old Slug & Lettuce space, smack bang in the middle of medialand.

Vibe
Following the same irreverent path as its predecessors, the atmosphere is buzzy, busy and bright – service is swift, food comes as and when from the open kitchen, and with a no reservations policy people are constantly popping in and out with the tables packed from the get-go.

Flavours
The menu at Wahaca is based on the 'Mexican market' concept – fresh, honest food made with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients served to share. The guacamole and salsa dips to start are tangy and super clean on the tongue, whilst tasting-sized dishes range from the spicy kick in the steak taco (balance with a cooling hibiscus agua fresca) and the velvety, tomato-based marinade of the chipotle chicken quesadilla, to the smoked mackerel tostada and big fat barrel, cheesy burritos. Leave room for the melt-in-your-mouth cinnamon-sprinkled churros, and definitely try with the caramel, rather than chocolate sauce. Or do both.

Décor
Bright, airy and fun, we loved the Chiquita banana chandelier, neon pink park-bench seating and the bright Remi Rough designed wall graffiti. Head downstairs past the colourful beaded curtains to the tequila bar, where hanging cocoon chairs swivel by foosball tables and bold red tables and bar stools make the perfect hangout to swing back the stellar Bloody Marias (a Bloody Mary made with tequila).

Upshot
We feel like Soho needed a fun, sparky place to hit at lunchtime, and this may just be the perfect solution. Sure the no bookings policy might leave you stranded on occasion, but with this kind of spread we wouldn't mind waiting one bit – and there's always the lure of the tequila bar. It makes you happy, don't you know.
