Fans of tapas havens Salt Yard and Dehesa will be excited to know that the group's highly anticipated third venue, The Opera Tavern, is launching in the increasingly foodie Covent Garden on the 20th January. To celebrate, we thought we'd throw a little subscriber shindig, on Wednesday 19th January between 6:30pm and 8:30pm, before the doors officially open to the public.
Like its siblings the two-storey restaurant (a former 19th Century pub with theatrical front windows) will focus on serving tapas style dishes inspired by the flavours of Spain and Italy. Part of the menu will be dedicated to the open kitchen's robata grill where fresh Iberico pork meat (sourced from a direct supplier) will be cooked to order and include debut dishes such as mini Iberico burgers. Perfect for a little pre-theatre snack or post-work tipple.
Come along and, as well as the signature burgers, you'll be enjoying Grilled baby peppers stuffed with smoked aubergine and tomato confit; Chanterelles, confit onions and smoked garlic butter on toast; Courgette flower with monte enebro and honey; Crispy pork belly with apple puree and fresh oregano; Pinchos mourunos selection from the charcoal grill; Grilled squids stuffed with chorizo and basi; Salt cod croquettas with romesco; Amedei chocolate pot with biscotti, and Seville Orange tart with vanilla mascarpone.
And as no tapas taster would be complete without wine, we've gotten our WineChap involved to share his top tips, picks and pairings on the night, and give you a hands-on sample of future Urban Junkies wine-pairing events you might like to attend. So, fancy a couple of after-work hours at Covent Garden's hottest new hangout?
To be in with a chance of attending with a plus one, simply hit that Facebook LIKE button for Urban Junkies, and leave us a message on our wall, stating why you need a good January re-tox! Places are strictly limited and winners will be notified by Monday 17th January.
