Remember the days before we had mobile phones? You’d have to meet at a specific time and place, because nobody could call in late or cancel last minute. And you certainly couldn’t take the tension out of a first date with flirty texts either. Now our lives are run on apps and maps, how the hell did we survive?
So whilst you’re tinkering on your iPhone, Yell (of the Yellow Pages of course) have also been busy embracing the digital age. Now there’s a new app and website with so much more than local listings; it has maps, reviews and videos of loads of businesses. And to get you involved, they’re offering a treasure–hunt style chance to win £10,000 worth of home entertainment equipment, including a 55" Sony 3D TV, surround–sound system, decks, mixing lessons and more.
How do you get your hands on the goods? Yell recently revamped their classic J.R Hartley ad with a new video featuring DJ Day V Lately trying to hunt down his hit, ‘Pulse & Thunder’ in various record shops, before eventually succeeding using the Yell Mobile app. Your mission is to find one of ten copies which have been stashed in independent music stores across the UK. By finding a record store on yell.com or Yell’s mobile app with an image of Day V’s Pulse and Thunder vinyl as their profile pic, you will have taken the first step by identifying one of the participating record stores. Head on over to the store and take a picture of yourself holding the record sleeve. Upload it to Facebook, caption it ‘Yell’, and they’ll do the rest. More information and instructions are also inside the record, which will stay in stores for the duration of the competition, with winners selected at random.
