That’s not to say that we’re wrong to be wary of nipple-tassels in general, but two very good reasons are appearing on the horizon to suggest we should perhaps hold our tongues on the ol’ cabaret-bashing.
Something Special #1: Paris’s infamous Le Crazy Horse at Supperclub.
Something Special #2: The launch of Lio, Pacha’s huge new cabaret venue in Ibiza.
Firstly, Le Crazy Horse is one of the classic Parisian strip/cabaret icons – and from next week it’s right here in London. Yes it’s at Supperclub. Yes it’s billed as one of those generally mediocre cabaret-dinners (which so often equate here to blah venues and half-hearted boob-wiggling). But this is Le Crazy: slick, sharp, actually sexy and wholly glossier than thou and we think it has serious potential.
Across the seas, meanwhile, if anywhere else in the world is capable of setting the art of tease back on fire, it’s going to be Ibiza and it’s going to be Lio. The island’s biggest, sexiest, most anticipated launch in ages, the upcoming Pacha-owned bar/cabaret/restaurant promises a (much-needed) rebirth of the old El Divino, yielding a very sharp, very hot, very sexy and totally Ibizan venue to rival all others.
So will it be hot, mysterious Ibizan wow or high-kicking, risqué Parisian kapow? Either way, our UJ cabaret jury is out – booking in for both. Ibiza, cabaret and Supperclub. Who’d have thunk it?
