So we’re all over this trend for pop-up luxury slumber spots appearing everywhere from theatres to bars, which we first clocked back in February at the Elle Style Awards afterparty, where gorgeous wrought-iron beds stood in for sofas, courtesy of the ever-creative Fiona Leahy.
Mahiki’s new “No-Tell Motel” private suite not only has karaoke, cocktail service, a kitchen and lounge – it also has a double bed for lounging on, pillow-fighting or catching a few Z’s. Perfect for turning a messy party into a (slightly crowded) sleepover.
For their next show, meanwhile, Duckie, those performance-loving Olivier-winners, are coaxing their audience members into bed where they’re lulled to sleep with songs and storytelling; and yes, breakfast is served the next morning.
And if like us you love the idea of Glasto but loathe the mud-camping, you can now get some festival beauty sleep in a boutique ‘podule’ they may look like painted shipping containers (with a little terrace outside), but with A/C, double beds and free backstage passes, we can totally deal.
There’s too much going on this summer to spend it snoozing. But with beds appearing bang in the middle of some of our favourite events, it’s now easier than ever to sleepover in style. Wherever you are.
