Fashion's Night Out, Thursday 8 September- UJ Picks

Plans pending for Thursday night? Then hit central for Vogue’s Fashion’s Night Out, the third year of the sartorially charged event promising everything from classic silk styling at Hermès to limited edition ties at Missoni. You can expect previews at the likes of Acne and Nicole Farhi and if you’re after a chance to win some goodies we hear that Armani Exchange is giving away a VIP Miami Music Week package. As well, at McQueen limited edition crystal skull keyrings are on offer, and there will also be gastronomic treats galore, DJs, drinks and photo booths around town. Sounds like too much to handle? Information keeps flooding in so be sure to download the FNO App for the night. For now, have a look at UJ’s fave picks.

Harvey Nicks’ fashion playground

This is the kind of funfair we can get into: less carnies and G-Force rides, more A-list designers hanging out (Marios Schwab and Louise Gray are a couple on the guest list), complimentary cocktails, sweet treats and all the usual Harvey Nicks shopping goodness. Alongside funfair-style stalls there will be a beauty salon that does lip and nail transfers. Our type of playground.

RSVP for guestlist, Harvey Nichols, 109-125 Brompton Road, SW1X 7RJ

Fashion Eats
Gourmet snacks to keep you going

Don’t bother with dinner; you can fill up on cocktails and canapés at FNO if you know where to go. There will be mini Toad in the Holes at Mulberry, Hakkasan is in charge of the food and drink at Dianne Von Furstenburg, and Yves Saint Laurent is laying on champagne and macaroons. If you’re still hungry, there’s a bunch of nearby restaurants doing special deals, including Da Polpo and Cecconi’s.

Liberty of London goes tropical

Sometimes a good old canapé and glass of fizz just isn’t enough. Honolulu takes over Liberty for a Hawaiian themed Luau complete with Mahiki Coconut Rum Shack while Lulu Kennedy and Jonathan Saunders will be talking through their collections. Alternatively, prepare yourself for disco mania: boot up for Rupert Sanderson’s roller disco or check out the Warhol inspired 70s discotheque at Tiffany.

UJ Take a Break
Oysters and champagne offer at J Sheekey

Sitting at the oyster bar at J Sheekey, watching chefs prepare fruits de mer in front of you with a glass of brut in hand is a special kind of pleasure, especially when you’ve been elbowing shoppers aside for the past couple of hours. It’s one of the places doing FNO offers, so you can enjoy a dozen native oysters and a glass of Pol Roger Pure for £18.75. Bottoms up!

Offer is valid on 8 September and 12-25 September.

Talks from The Insiders

Rarely do we think of anyone other than Anna Wintour or Alexandra Schulman when we hear the words ‘Vogue Editor’. If you want to get away from the main hubbub then we recommend the V&A Reading Rooms where Vogue’s first ever male editor Geoffrey Aquilina Ross will be reading from his book ‘The Day of the Peacock’. Email here to book a place. The Fashion Illustration Gallery will also be hosting a presentation by fashion illustrator David Downton on his favourite couture shows.
