W Hotels & Burn Studios DJ Lab Programme – iPhone app special
Keep the Ibiza party mood going with hot music on your handset
Everyone knows that in London you’re never more than six feet from a rat or an aspiring DJ, but the problem is that it can be tough for the good ones to get noticed (the DJs, that is. Not the rats). There just aren’t enough Jay-Z-style mentors to go around.
Which is why the W Hotels burn studios DJ Lab makes so much sense to us. Six of the hottest emerging DJs, all hand-picked by W Hotels’ Global Music Director Michaelangelo L’Acqua, have already been dispatched to the burn studios Hacienda – a villa in Ibiza, to hang out and learn from industry mentors like Jason Bentley, Hubert from Cassius, Arthur Baker and Mode-F.
The W Hotels iPhone app, which was launched at this year’s Ibiza International Music Summit, will then feature hot mixes from the six up-and-comers alongside playlists from the mentors, and from L’Acqua himself.
And the best thing about this partnership between the new DJ talent and the global W Hotels group is that even after the final press release has gone out, it’s not over. Instead, the young DJs will keep submitting music throughout the year (exposure for them, timely beats for the W iPhone app and us), and will each play a select number of dates at W Hotels for their ‘Happenings’ series. Not a bad gig to land.
So now, we introduce you to the top six names we’re sure you’re going to be hearing more about.

Daniel Avery
aka DJ Stopmakingme, London
UJ loves D. Avery. Resident at Fabric, frequent DJ at Bugged Out, this modest young ‘un is passionate, polite, and can rock a dance floor. Playing everything from electro and post punk to techno and nu-wave, Dan is a great representative for the eclectic London style.

Currently the resident at W Hong Kong, Angus Wong is one stylish man, and without even a hint of attitude. Hailing from Hong Kong originally, he’s influenced by the ‘80s and ‘90s and plays a consistently fun, sophisticated set.

Eiko
Tokyo
Eiko is an all-encompassing solo show. She has the kind of inherent, natural style you don’t get through hiring a stylist. She has a super voice, is great to hang out with and truly rocks the decks with confidence.

Lincoln Madley
DJ Bouji, NYC
With his Quaker-esque style, and pensive demeanour, UJ wasn’t really expecting Lincoln to bring such high energy to the decks – which he did. Probably why celebs and European A-list cities aplenty can’t get enough of him. He is currently the resident DJ for W’s Symmetry Live Series.

Miaou Mix
aka Noemi Sunshine Ferst & Judith Grynszpan, Paris
As resident DJs at Le Baron in Paris, these girls know how to get the party started. Miaou Mix are very much equal parts music and style (how’s two outfit changes at dinner for fabulous?) as they bring some Parisian pizzazz to glitzy parties from Cannes to NYC, as well as glossy editorial spreads around the globe.
