Endless Halloween parties, Stompin’ at the Savoy and the Grey Goose Ball; we’re spoilt for choice this weekend. If you want to join in the All Hallow’s Eve fun, there’s the Disney House of Horror or for something a little less raucous Halloween dinner at newly-refurbed The Collection. If you want to bypass Halloween altogether, try Soho’s latest tapas bar, chill out to some Sunday night live jazz or plan a winter break to L’Hotel in Paris.

THEATRE: Jerusalem at Apollo Theatre
So we missed Jerusalem the first time around (Royal Court and West End, oops) and have been kicking ourselves ever since. Great for us that it’s back then. Having racked up impressive critical claim and awards since its London premiere back in ‘09, Jerusalem continues to be one of the few shows that has managed to permanently cross over from theatre land to the mainstream. After a summer Broadway stint, writer Jez Butterworth and actor Mark Rylance bring the play back to London for a short run at the Apollo. Showing until 14 Jan.

Time: Matinees, 1.30pm; Evenings, 7.30pm
Place: Apollo Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, W1D 7EZ
Cost: From £32
Info: Jerusalem at Apollo Theatre

FOOD: Copita
Heart-warming, cosy and central – you may notice that newly-opened Spanish tapas bar Copita is situated on the former site of Bar Chocolate. Its casual interior (all wood and tiles) is very madrileño and the kind of place kitted out with tumblers and cutlery buckets. The menu takes traditional tapas and adds a pinch of modern fusion – broad bean ice cream with customary anchovy fillets, homemade butifarra and olive oil ice cream choc-ice. Just perfect for winter tête-á têtes. But take note, no reservations (of course), so you’ll just have to turn up on spec.

Time: Mon-Sat 10am-late, Sun 12pm-late
Place: 27 D'Arblay Street, W1F 8EP
Cost: Main plates from £2.50
Info: Copita

LAUNCH
American Express International Access Program
Ides of March

At the Ides of March launch last week, UJ was lucky enough to be on the carpet with George, Rachel and co., courtesy of American Express. Dressed in black tie – thank god we followed the invite as this was a super-Lanvin-full-on black tie crowd – we watched Gosling serve a stellar performance and then headed onto the afterparty at 50 St James for Jameson Irish Martinis and were even offered Clooney’s couch. Nice. The film, which is out tomorrow, is directed and co-scripted by Clooney and offers a look into life on the campaign circuit. Intense.

The Ides of March, Friday October 28, 18:15/21:15
£8 standard ticket, £18 sofa seat www.aubincinema.com/home/

* The Ides of March Gala forms part of American Express’ International Access Programme; providing top international customers with exclusive access to a range of premium experiences across travel, dining, fashion and entertainment. PARTY: Walt Disney’s House of Horror
Envisage an underground basement in the Magic Kingdom’s Cinderella castle run by Mickey Mouse’s cracked out cousin and you can imagine what Walt Disney’s House of Horror holds in store this weekend. It’s no castle – it’s being held in a brilliantly tacky strip club where there’ll be fittingly morbid music by Veronica Falls, performances by the Theo Adams Company and some sort of warped Mickey Mouse Club upstairs. For outfits, think Disney gone cryogenic – drowned Ariel, demon Donald Duck or Britney circa 2007.

Time: 9pm-late
Place: Metropolis, 234 Cambridge Heath Rd, E9 2NN
Cost: Free

FOOD: The Collection
Not down with the dressing up, face paint and drunk witches/fairies/cats this weekend? Then head straight for newly refurbished Chelsea fave The Collection, who are putting its new interior to good use this weekend with a three-course pumpkin inspired dinner – dishes include pumpkin and amaretto tortelli and pumpkin créme brûlée – followed by dancing and music from DJ Ella. Think of it as Halloween for grown-ups.

Time: From 6pm
Place: 264 Brompton Road, SW3 2AS
Cost: Set menu £40 per person

PHOTOS
Patrón Secret Dining Society
Sponsored listing

Good food, good drink and even better company – all the makings of an enjoyable evening, and ones which Patrón perfected at their Secret Dining Society last Thursday. Shay Ola made magic in the kitchen (just how did he get the mascarpone so foamy?) and JJ Goodman taught us how to shake up our own Patrón cocktails. The Bethnal Green space was suitably minimal with ribbons falling from beams, and a cool, colourful Patrón bottle lighting fixture.

L’Hotel Paris
Luxurious, opulent and the perfect St Germain location

13 Rue Des Beaux-Arts, 75006 Paris

www.l-hotel.com

About
Right in the heart of St Germain-des-Prés, it was here Oscar Wilde came to rest his head; literally, it was his last residence. Small, sultry and perfectly located, this is an old faithful where you wish the walls really could talk.

Décor
Heavy curtains and lush fabrics in hues of red, purple and gold – there’s a definite nod to the baroque here and a feeling of opulence throughout. UJ loved Le Restaurant, where small, perfectly-formed sofas replaced chairs at the dinner table; the leopard print rug really did it for us. The décor – by Jacques Garcia, who is also responsible for interiors at Hotel Costes – plays with contrasting patterns with expensive, French attitude.

Highlights
We loved the layout of the hotel; while waiting for the elevator, you can stare down and get vertigo. The hamman downstairs was also a nice touch – you can book it out privately, which feels very extravagant. The main highlight however is Le Restaurant (Le Restaurant and L’Hotel, geddit!). Boasting a Michelin star, chef Julien Montbabut serves a stellar, modern (even, dare we say, light) French menu; this is a tucked-away Parisian find. Even breakfast here feels like a special treat, and the cocktail list (by multi-award-winning bartender Carlos Madriz) is bespoke, innovative, and worth staying in for. Go for a ‘Bittersweet Love’: homemade lemonade, tequila, guarana-infused tea and various herbs and spices.

Why Go Now
November sees a special B&B offer at L’Hotel, so it’s the perfect time to and treat yourself to a gastro weekend. Pull up at the bar and sample from the menu, move into the dining room, and then roll into bed.
