BEAUTY SPY – GETTING UNDER THE SKIN OF THE HEALTH & BEAUTY INDUSTRY |
Ah, February. Given that we were taking January as an "adjustment period," enjoying the gluttony overspill (both Meat Liquor and Pitt Cue Co. are walking distance from UJ HQ), it didn’t seem right to bombard anyone with health–infused tips. February, though, well that’s fair game. From LFW until the Olympics it’s all go go go – so take a moment now to reassess, and read on.

SPA AWAY:
SHA Wellness Clinic |
We should probably start by telling you that ex–El Bullí chef, Pablo Montoro, heads the kitchen at the SHA Wellness Clinic. Created at Alfredo Bataller Parietti’s family home in Alicante, the clinic offers programmes which aim to clean out your pipes with a macrobiotic diet (think ‘you are what you eat’) combined with treatments including acupuncture, body wraps and hydrotherapy pools. Did we mention the chef was ex–El Bullí?

Prices start from €220 per night.

JUICE 1:
Nosh Juice Fast |
Choose a 2, 3 or 6–day plan with Nosh, which replaces your boring, solid meals with a combination of fruity concoctions (açai, flaxseed, mango, goji berries, etc.). Oddly, it’s not as hard as it sounds. Especially as you get the juices delivered straight to your front door. After three days you feel light and strangely energetic. Just make sure you keep away from social engagements as no one wants to watch you fast. You can have black coffee though, so breakfast meetings are a go!
Nosh Detox is offering all UJ readers 20% off any detox plan when they sign up for 5 days or more. |

PRODUCT PICK:
D.U.S.C. Gym Tee
Ok, it’s not really a gym tee as it’s designed by ‘70s disco aficionado Lono Brazil. But we think the mantra applies to the gym as well (and the dunkin’ donuts font adds some much-needed irony). Keep on jumpin’!

HEADS UP:
Nike + Fuelband |
Nike’s newest gadget the Fuelband is a calorie–counter and personal trainer rolled into a sleek black wristband. Although it’s only available in the US, it’s coming soon to the UK to measure your every single movement – be it dancing, skipping or climbing the four flights of stairs to your office. See, it does count as exercise.

FACE:
Vaishaly Signature Facial at the Four Seasons |
Facialist–to–the–stars, Vaishaly, has launched her signature facial at the Four Seasons Hotel spa – which has recently been refurbished to high–octane effect. Perched on the 10th floor of the hotel, the impressive city views top off minimalist treatment rooms, spa pools in the changing areas, relaxing pods and of course, a fantastic facial. This has ‘treat experience’ written all over it.

JUICE 2:
Juice Bar at The Sanderson |
If you must do healthy socially, then at least do it in style with the healthy virgin cocktails at The Sanderson’s Long Bar (great for breakfast meetings). The juices are tailored to compliment the Agua Spa menu (edamame beans, Devonshire crab and quinoa feature) as well as specific health routines. Sip the Jetlag Rescue Smoothie or the Cellulite Reducing Cocktail – just try not to be tempted by the mini burger from the Long Bar menu.

NEWS:
Blink at Bluebird Shop |
Our favourite eyebrow-tending spot, Blink, is no longer just for brows. The Blink at Bluebird Shop on the Kings Road now offers mani–pedis too. Like the rest of the fabulous store, the Blink area is a delight, replete with a mirrored bar area and curtains to shield you from the eyes of shoppers. UJ recommends the two–hour luxury manicure and pedicure, but you can stop by for as little as 15 minutes for a brow reshape or mini massage.

CLASS:
Budokon |
Jump on the Budokon bandwagon and find your ‘inner spiritual warrior’. The Japanese buzzword which exploded in LA (naturally) combines yoga, martial arts and a series of animal techniques into a holistic work out. Bring out your inner tiger. Or gorilla, for that matter.
The Budokon Academy runs classes from £25.

JUICE 3:
Juiceology |
And the last juice option for those who don’t want to drop the alcohol intake completely: Juiceology. Created by mixologist Joe McCanta (we love) , these beautifully packaged all–natural juices (flavours include Coconut Water and White Guava, and Lychee, Berry and Basil) can be drunk on their tod or combined with your favourite spirits. All four available blends use milk thistle, a plant extract known for its healing qualities – particularly for damaged livers. So the alcohol intake won’t even count. Sort of.
