Peroni reaches new heights of Italian style with Amici

The closure of what seemed like one of Milan’s best ever design weeks last Friday has placed Italy firmly on our minds.

Everything from Marni’s furniture debut to the Dock Kitchen’s Milanese pop-up said chic Italy, while back in London we’re having our own pizza revival (read: Pizza Pilgrims, Meter and Brooklyn Bite) as well as an exciting upcoming Italian dining launch.

So it’s only natural to want in on a little Italian action (a ‘trip’ to the Gelupo trolley doesn’t count). If you can’t get away to the likes of Basilicata or live the island life in Panarea, then take some inspiration from Italian style purveyors Peroni.

For the past few months, Peroni has been hosting a series of salone nights (ultra-intimate, style-led supperclubs) across the country. Last week’s London event was held in an exclusive space set in the heights of Tower Bridge. Looking out across the city as the sun set below the skyline, it was the perfect place for inspiring cuisine and sophisticated conversation. Hosted by the ever charismatic Gianluca Longo, guests included a cross section of London’s glitterati including dapper UJ faves Henry Conway, Jaye Thompson and David Waters.

If you have Italy on your mind too, maybe it’s time to throw your own salone, Peroni-style. An intimate setting, balmy evening, good friends and chilled beer… and possibly a Gelupo delivery.
